AHHH The Joy....

of telling SOX that I can only accept a signing if they send payment with the docs! They claim to have gotten a whole new accounting department and have resolved issues. I informed them that their reputation speaks for itself and that I can only accept assignments from them that come with the payment attached. Smiley

They phoned me the other day. I didn't even think to say what you did, Kim. I simply said, nicely as I could, "Sorry, I won't work with your agency because of the reputation you have and how your treat your notaries."

I was not that nice to them. They will never call me again, thank the good notary guru.

It's true...

They do have a new accounting department. One where someone answers the phone and when you ask about payment she tells you she doesn't handle the phone calls she only writes the checks Smiley

That's the truth. I called last week and the gal in accounting said she only writes the checks. I asked where my check was and the poor girl stuttered like crazy. She sounded young, like right out of high school. I didn't feel like hasseling her. I felt bad for her.

What is the name of the company? That way I will be sure to stay away from them.

Pahoua Quality Document Services ...

When I first logged onto Notary Rotary, I began reading through all the old messages and started an Excel sheet with the names of the individual SSs that showed up repeatedly (or at least, more than one or two user comments) and comments about them. Those with lots and lots of negatives, I indicated on my sheet -- there are a few which are blatantly noted over and over. They will stick in your mind after a while so if they call you, you will automatically be able to say "Sorry!"

On the other hand, if you do take an assignment from one of these, it can be a really good learning experience. Not long ago, I decided to give one the benefit of the doubt. My suggestion to you is if you do this, be sure you are prepared to NOT be paid. Sometimes you'll win, but most often, you'll gain experience only.

I have been getting calls from the weekly and I just turned them down. I may try that line also.
