A little Saturday venting
Just need to tell this to someone and you guys are the only ones that would understand....
Had an appointment for yesterday morning that got cancelled the day before. Then I got a call last night from the same title company (that I deal with all the time), thanking me for helping them out by doing this closing on a Saturday, and did I pick up the documents today at one of their offices? I was confused and said you must be thinking of someone else. He said no, it's you......"So and So said you were going to pick up the docs at their office". But I had never spoken with anyone else after the original appointment was cancelled. Anyway, I think they made a mistake and forgot to rebook this with me, so I accepted the Saturday assignment, and agreed to do edocs, since it was good money.
Called the borrower Saturday morning at 930a for an 11a appointment, since it was too late to call them on Friday night when I found out about the assignment. Got their voicemail. Left my cell number. No return call. Got on the road to drive 45 miles and got to the area indicated by both Mapquest and Google, and there was no such street number!!!! I called the borrower again. No answer. Left voicemail. Tried to call the Title Company. By the third number I finally got ahold of someone who was on the phone with me for about 30 minutes while SHE was on mapquest, and she agreed I was right where I was supposed to be. I also went to houses on the right and left of this supposed address to ask the neighbors and no one was home. Asked a guy down the street and he never heard of the borrowers and didn't know where this exact address was.
Finally after being in the area for 45 minutes, I finally left because there was nothing else I could do. I left a detailed message for my scheduler about what had happened. I was very frustrated to have driven almost 100 miles on a beautiful Saturday morning, wasting 4 hours of my time, including the time I spent printing and prepping docs.
I know the title company will pay me the entire amount, but it's frustrating nevertheless. And here it is two hours past the appointment time and the borrower still has not returned my call!
Was there anything else I could have done? It was a very rural area without gas stations or restaurants to stop at to ask any additional directions. Also called the work numbers for both borrowers and of course they weren't there either. Grrrrrr.
If the borrower calls me later today, I really don't want to drive another 100 miles to get this thing signed!

I had a similar thing happen to me. Got a signing last week with a company I hadn't worked with before. Got the signing in early afternoon to do that night at 8pm. Tried all day long to reach borrower but no answer & answering machine was off. Went ahead and printed out the docs to be prepared.
Since it was a 30 minute drive and I still hadn't reached borrower 25 minutes before the appointment, I called the ss after hours number. Was told to go to appointment as scheduled because borrower may just get home from work in time for the appointment.
The neighborhood isn't one of the best and actually looks worse in daylight than at night - which I'd forgotten when I accepted the signing. Anyway by process of elimination I found the house - no house numbers on it. Every light in the house was on and all the curtains were open. There was a vehicle in the lite garage and another in the driveway. After knocking several times and calling on the phone decided that the borrower wasn't home.
I even walked down the street a couple house where neighbor were standing in their driveways drinking. The neighbors said I had the correct house and that the borrower had already come home from work and left again. They didn't think he'd be home any time soon. I call the after hours number again and reported what happened and she said to leave and I would be paid a printing and trip fee.
When I got home, I completed the no sign info and e-mailed the ss a bill. The next morning I got a call asking if the loan had closed. Told this person no & what had happened.
Didn't get a call to re-schedule all week, so I figured the loan was cancelled. On Thursday of this week I had several signings scheduled and came home in between to print out more e-docs. What do I see when I'm printing but an e-mail directing me to a web site to download the loan package for the no show borrower from last week. I was too busy to bother with it right then. Later that day before my 6pm appt. I get a hud & title docs faxed to me (for the missing borrower). This time I called the ss & had to leave a message cause it was after hours. I told them I was getting e-mail and faxed docs and that I hadn't been called for a new appt.
The next morning - about 11am I get a call from the ss wanting to know if I completed the signing. Iexplained to her that no one had ever called me to reschedule. She claimed she had called me and scheduled a new appt for 8pm the previous night. I told her I had never received a call, didn't have an e-mail confirmation and asked what day she called. She couldn't remember and didn't write that down. I said that I'd be glad to set up a new appointment for today. She then said that I'd need to back date to yesterdays date. I told her that I wouldn't back date since that's illegal. She was very angry with me and said they'd have to re-draw the paperwork if I wouldn't backdate. I ended the conversation telling her to get back to me when the new docs were ready.
I haven't heard from the ss since then. I'm guessing that they may not pay me for my trip and printing.
Sorry this is so long - needed to vent.
