Borrower's Holding Docs

Is it a rather frequent happening that borrowers hold on to docs that were delivered to them for over a week so they can go over it? Wouldn't that cause issues with the loan and the LO? I would not backdate but changing the dates for the appropriate date seems very "uncomfortable". The LO didn't follow up with the SS until the borrower called the SS asking for a notary and now they want to notarize the package. How would you folks deal with this issue?

Many times the docs are not date sensitive. The borrowers can use whatever date they wish; however, YOUR notarizations MUST reflect the date they signed in your presence.

I just got a phone call from Notaries To You about a similar issue. I don't have any issue doing the signing as long as the dates are for today. I get this sometimes because I deal a lot with Spanish speaking signers who are very confused about the paperwork.

If they have already signed and dated a document, the only date you are concerned with is the dates on your ACK. The jurat is another story, they must resign in front of you.
