Cancellations

I am quite new to this business. I had some a few signings but within the last two week I have had SS's call with appointments then call back in less than 5 minutes they have called back to cancel. Is this normal or have I been "Blackballed" somehow? I know cancellations are expected but to call back within 5 mins seems strange to me.

OK Let me try this again. I am quite new to this business. This is only my second posting to the board. Within the last two weeks I have received calls from two SS"s asking me to go to closings. About 5 mins after their first call they have called me back to cancel. Is this normal or have I been "Blackballed" somehow? I know cancellations are to be expected but within 5 mins of the first call?

You don't mention your experience level or history with these companies, but the scenario you're describing usually means they called you until they found someone cheaper; if you don't have much experience, they may also have gone with someone more seasoned.

I have done only 35 signings and had no history with either of these companies. Both signings were "documents sent to borrower." I have worked for only two other SS's and they have never came back to me with any errors. Thanks for getting back to me.

It probably has less to do with experience and more to do with "they found a cheaper notary." Unfortunately, some SS will notary shop and book 2 or 3 for the same appointment until they get a price they like.

Thank You for your answers. It has made me feel better, I thought I had done something wrong. I try to uphold the professional manner in which most notaries work under and take my time to make sure everything is right at the closing. I have used this site many times to research items and I want to thank everyone for helping me.

If you received a call back that quickly, it's very likely that someone else quoted them a lower fee. I doubt that the SS are black-balling you unless you've done a horrible job on the signings you have done, which I doubt.

Would you please share the name's of the ss's that did this. It sounds like they found a cheaper notary and dumped you.
