EOM shredding
I have just spent the last 1-1/2 hours cross-shredding three sets of loan docs and Borrower copies. Two sets belonged to the same Borrowers. First signing had to be rescheduled because it ended up Mr. Borrower had the flu and failed to tell anyone until my second conversation with him advising I was on my way and my ETA (a little under 100 miles one way) and to make certain Mr. and Mrs. had copies of their drivers licenses -- it was at that point he advised he couldn't leave the house to get a copy of DL because he had the flu. To top it off, he *still* expected me to perform the signing with him having the flu. Signing rescheduled with new docs/new dates. TC was aware of previous signing commitment I had 2 hours ahead of flu resign. Because I didn't have wings or a helicopter, about an hour before signing, it had to be given to another SA because Borrowers were unwilling to be 15-30 minutes flexible with signing time because I would not cancel or rush the Borrowers through a local signing committed to before ever accepting the original or rescheduled flu signing. TC charged for two print charges.
Second shredding for Borrowers who canceled for whatever reason just as I was heading out the door. SS charged for one print charge.
It's trash day and my shredding has filled up most of the trash barrel.

Save the shreddings - good for starting the fire in the fireplace this winter - save oil.

I have a Fellowes Power Shredder but only used here and there for misprint and stuffs. I put aside cancelled docs then take them to a local shredding/doc destruction company where I pay $5 per box.

I have to have a shredder because of my attorney-client work. I used to use the cheaper models and they would last *maybe* a year and you could only put a few pages at a time through. I can usually get two years out of the commercial-type ones -- you can put more pages through at once and you don't have to remove staples. The one I have now has a special slot for credit cards and CD's, too.
