FedEx Saturday Pick up question
I did a signing on 9/23/05 late afternoon. I dropped the package late night. It turn out that particular location doesnt have Sat. pick up, so my package was picked up till Monday afternoon. The SS called me that the Escrow was really upset because it wasnt going to fund when it was supposed to because of a rate lock and that they will have to pay for another day to extend the rate lock.
They also told me that there was another location in my city that had Sat pick up.
They got the package on Tuesday the RTC day I think, why cant they fund the loan today?
Anyways, is it my responsability to find a location that has Sat pick up? I never knew that my small city had Sat pick up.
TIA

we dont have sat pick up and i make everyone aware of that issue. also we dont recieve docs before 4pm ANY DAY! its an issue but we live in the boonies... just be sure that those whom you do work with in the future know your in a little town and you wont have docs picked up before monday on a weekend signing most understand and will just mark the package as such.
good luck

I'll be curious to hear what others have to say on this too. I've frequently had Friday night appointments that don't end until after the Fedex pickup. I don't personally know of any Fedex locations that process packages on Saturday either, which means my packages always arrive on Tuesday. I've never been called on it.

Our FedEx/Kinkos has a Saturday pick up for Priority Overnight Packages. You have to drop them off by noon.

I am with Betsy. Most of my Friday appointments end after the 7pm pick up cut off for Fedex. It is assumed by most SS that if you do a closing after 4 or 5pm, package will not actually be shipped until Monday for arrival on Tuesday. If you can get it to them before then---you score brownie points! It has been my experience w/Fedex that if I drop it off on late Friday night, they will enter it into their system but it does not move until that Monday for delivery on Tuesday.
If the SS wants it to be handled on Saturday, they definitely have to give you explicit instructions accordingly. Otherwise, the above applies in all cases. If the SS did not advise you to find a Saturday handling location, then the error is not yours. It is theirs. They know just like we know---If it is signed late (on or after 7pm)on Friday, the package doesn't move until Monday for delivery on Tuesday(7pm is the latest pick up time here in MI).
Feel better--You did what you were supposed to.

Whenever I have a Friday after-hours or Saturday morning appt., I also ask the SS or TC if a Saturday pick-up will be necessaary. Usually the answer is no. If, however, they want the dox to be delivered Monday a.m., I will make arrangements to drive the dox to a location that has Saturday service (within reasonable distance). If you live in a rural area where these services aren't available, my suggestion is to made certain whoever is hiring you is aware of this.

That is something any new persons should check out when they start in the business before their first job. Some (very few) also use UPS. I am fortunate to live close to both. I also make it a practice to hand the packages to a real person as if something happens to the package there is more accountabiliby. Those drop boxes get broken into sometines overnight in some areas, and the packages won't go out until the next day anyway. I had a friend who this happened to and he wound up doing the signing again for free (it was a good title company who he wanted to work for again).

We don't have Sat pickup here either. Whenever I take an assignment for Friday or Saturday, I inform the scheduler of that fact (doc delivery will not be until Tuesday). I also tell them that if Saturday drop is required, there is an extra $20 charge to go to a facility that has Saturday pickup.

If there was a RTC on the loan then there's no reason why the rate lock would expire from the docs being received on Tue instead of Mon. Wouldn't surprise me if the SS was looking for an excuse not to pay you. Don't let them screw you.
If there's a Saturday pickup location within a reasonable distance of you, it would be nice if you could get docs dropped there when possible. But I sure wouldn't go out of my way to be dropping stuff off if it's an inconvenience. I have a Sat. pickup until 5:00 pm located about 3 miles from me so I always try to get stuff in there when I can. Before I lived here? It went out on Monday.
Monday is the business day after Friday, your docs were sent the business day after they were signed. Perfectly acceptable. And Fed Ex isn't completely accurate on their pickup info either, they still list a postal center near me as having Saturday pickup when it actually hasn't had Saturday pickup for about 2 years. The owner told me he's contacted Fed Ex numerous times to fix it and they never do.

Thank you for all your replies, I even call Fed Ex Yesterday, and they told me that it wasnt Sat Pick up in my zip code. LO told me that there is Sat pick up in my city and name the location and I called that location and its true, they have Sat pick up. But I didnt know that. They also agree that the location where I dropped tha pack, didnt have Sat pick up.
And you are right Cali, Tuesday is the last day for Resc. day they could have fund the loan today.
Do you people know whats the fee for an aditional lock rate day?

We don't have Saturday pick-up in my area for FedEx or UPS....I let the SS know this when they call and haven't had a problem...They tell me to send it out Monday.

If I drive to either Battle Creek or to Kentwood near Grand Rapids I can send it out on Saturday, I charge more though since it is a good hour drive to either city, unless the SS will pay for Saturday pick-up, but you have to call before noon.

Re: UPS Sat
A number of years ago I foolishly thought if I ran into my UPS store and got there before it closed, I was set for the package to go out that day. NOPE. Found out after the fact that although the store was open until 7 PM, the last pick up for air was 6 PM. So my package went out the next day anyway. Thank goodness it did not create a problem in the end, but learned a good lesson to check the cut off times for picks ups even though store is open later.

Re: UPS Sat
We request our notaries try to get docs back on Sat if possible, but it is never mandatory.. it just makes the brokers happy and keeps us all employed.
