GAC- General American Corportation...background check

Just got an email from them wanting $30 for a background check.
Anyone going to do this?
They are a good company of mine. I don't want to lose them.
However, I did this with Transunion and didn't notice a difference one way or another.
Your input is appreciated.

I did the background check a few months ago. I do lots of business with them. Although I always did. I have heard that they will be changing to use only the notaries that have had a background check. I think if you get lots of business from them it is worth paying the $30.00. Just a thought.

If you are getting a lot of work from them I would ask them if you don't pay for the backround check will you still be on their list. Then just chalk it up to the cost of doing business if they need it. Where in NY are you?

I filled it out and faxed back. I do a lot with them and think they are good so if it keeps the biz coming what can you do. I also feel that if you don't return they won't use you, just a guess. I just hope they are very careful with the info we give them.

I wonder how this works if you do their work through SS's. I'm registered with GAC but they never call me directly. I always get assignments through SS's.

I did one today through a SS...

and I will never do it again. I talked directly to them. I had to hunt down the docs. The SS just gave me their 800 # to ask them where the docs were. HUD was wrong and I had to talk to GAC to get it fixed. NEVER AGAIN! This SS haggled with me over $15.00. Then, my confirmation was just the order from GAC with the SS fee blacked out.

Today I signed up of their website and faxed everything in. I gave my CC info for the background check.

THE SS DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND GOT PAID FOR IT. The whole "Let's pay the middleman" is really starting to get to me.

Must be Hatton Associates. I've done a few through them, but won't accept them anymore. I also don't like the middle man. They call you, set the appt and then you are on your own. You contact GAC from there. What's the point?
