I've had it! SOX & these other loser SS

I got a call from SOX today and they wanted to know if I would do an assignment 30 miles one way, EDOCS for $65. I had to refrain from telling them I wouldn't do it for $165. Then I get two other calls for an assignment, EDOCS. Neither of whom were willing to pay $100 EDOC fee.

Would anyone care to tell me what is going on???

And why don't they say what they mean!!!

Don't say I'll see if I can get it approved. Why not say we're cheapo's and I have to shop around. Call you back if I can't get a newbie to do it.

Re: And why don't they say what they mean!!!

I don't mean to sound like a hypocrite or anything....I do receive signings for low fees right now (until i can get enough business to sign up w/ higher-paying companies...since they all ask for "experience"), even e-docs, but they're very close, like five to ten minutes away from home. 30 miles is too much though for edocs at $65!!! consider traffic, too! The other day I went to Office Depot to buy toner for my printer (prints 3000 pages), a box of legal paper, and a few stacks of letter-sized paper.....cost me $200. Excuse my language, but what the hell is so expensive about toner, a small cartridge that contains black powder, not to mention that spills a page worth of powder if you don't install it properly. JEEZ!

Time to start charging for your services.

Re: And why don't they say what they mean!!!

First of all I would shop around for the toner. There are much cheaper prices than office stores. In regard to the cheap fee for edocs, no way! Especially when most edocs are over 200 pages with the borrowers copies! Yes they are cheapos!!!!!!

It's a rare thing

"Time to start charging for your services."

It's a rare thing to see a reply on this board that is so perfect in its simplicity. Well done.

Take MsRobbo's advice and shop around for toner REFILLS. I also get only 3000 copies (if printing at *draft* quality), and my cartridge for a Samsung ML-1740 runs between $65 and $80 delivered. However, I took at chance at eBay and bought some bottles of toner *refills* very inexpensively. From all I've read, I should be able to get at least two good refills, possibly three, before the cartridge/drum unit must be replaced. When that happens, I'll go to www.tonerrefillkits.com (as seen here many times) and order a $29.95 once-used, never-refilled cartridge. It's easy enough to do on my cartridge -- no special tools needed (just a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove five screws). So far, I've refilled two cartridges, and the quality is great!

As to paper, I empathize, since I pay $5.89 per ream of legal (I haven't room to store, nor do I presently do the kind of volume to justify buying an entire carton at a time).

As long as you are willing to accept lower fees for now, you might want to consider asking if they can ship the docs to you for a fee like $65. I wasn't clear if your 30 mile figure was one-way or round-trip, but I got the impression it was round-trip. That's a lot of miles!

At any rate, I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask for more money with e-docs.
