My answer to "Will you do this closing cheaper?"

I'll offer a discount on my fee if the SS will pay my PayPal invoice upfront before the closing. And when SS say, "But we don't get paid till ____", I reply put it on your credit card and you'll have the money by the time the credit card bill arrives.

Thats a good one but I bet they say "we'll find another notary that WILL do it cheaper".

Had a company this morning that asked for cheaper and they choose to paid the full fee instead of taking my PayPal discount or shopping for a cheaper notary. The companies that want to shop around are frequently the companies that don't pay notaries.

Re: Got one better

SS agreed to my fee and then said, "collect the check from the borrower prior to leaving and submit a paid invoice with the packet." I asked if the borrower knew he was paying up front and she said, "of course." Wow, money up front!

Money up front

I like that idea and don't see why we can't do that with all the loans. Property Appraisers charge up front "collect the check from borrower" Why can't we.

Re: Money up front

RE Appraisers are NOT always paid up front. Yes 99% of the time I did get paid up front, but there were many times I was paid out of Escrow. Not all borrowers are able to pay the appraiser up front.

Re: Money up front

Yep, you're right Lawrence. In fact many borrowers and buyers/sellers can't afford to actually make the payements up front. That is why it is popular to have no upfront costs for loans and to just include the costs in the financing.

Re: Money up front

I think upfront discount is great, if I have worked with the signing agent prior and know he or she is reliable and knows their stuff.
I'd bit on that one
