Oklahoma notary biz

I am considering moving to Oklahoma City and have had a hard time finding out whether or not I will be able to make anywhere near what I make in WA. Almost all of the TC and SS I work with have little or no experience in OK. Even the title co.s there seem baffles by the idea of a closing taking place outside of the office. I just purchased a piece of property there and both the lender and TC seemed uneasy over the fact that not only would I not be coming to OK to sign but that I expected to sign in my own home with another notary/closing agent. Even my underwriter questioned and requestioned what exactly my profession is. Have I been dealing with complete idiots or is Oklahoma really not up to speed on what everyone else in the financial industry is doing? I, by no means, mean to slam Oklahomans or Oklahoma (after all I am originally from there) - I just am finding it odd that my job seems to be foreign to everyone there. Am I wrong???

Yes, you delt with total idiots. I can name (but wont) 3 major title companies in the OKC metro area that know what a witness closer is. There are 2 reputable signing services in OKC. and there is work to be found. Now what part of Oklahoma are you considering locating to?

I am looking either NW OKC or Edmond. Is work that tight that you won't recommend TC? I am very concerned. The SS companies I have heard and read about pay incredibly low. I am used to making $75-$100 for over night docs and anywhere from $100-$200 for edocs. All the TC I work with directly here pay $200. I guess I don't really expect to make as much there (with the huge cost of living difference and all). But I just wonder how people live there if you can't make at least $3K per mo. I had two other notaries email me directly saying they quit the biz becasue they just couldn't generate enough work.
