I'm a new notary in TN and I have a signing tomorrow where the wife is power of atty for her husband...I have never done a signing of this type, could someone give me some pointers on how and where she signs the documents?? I think I would appreciate it greatly...TIA

Is she power of attorney because he is incapcitated and unable to sign, or he will not be present? If that's the case she should be able to sign everything for him and her side. To be safe, ask instructions from the SS.

Yes, her husband suffers from Alzhimers, and I don't know if he is capable of signing his own name...will find out when I get there!

I am in Florida and Have done a couple of these. Each time the person with power of attorney would have to sign a really long signature sort of like
"John Doe by Jane Doe as Attorney in Fact "
This was in addition to her own signature. Check with the Signing service to be sure.

CHeck also if you need to verify that she in fact has a power of attorney.
In Florida we do not have to do that. Only to ID the signer and have her sign as instructed.
