Some bridges worth burning!!

During recent EOM rush, I get a call wanting me to sign up with the "parent" company of a lender that I do closings(research shows they are really a title co). Their main legal dept noticed that I'm used regularly at their local branches for in-house closings and would like to call on me for mobile closing as well. Sounds good right? That's what we all like, for our reputation to do the marketing for us.

Here's where it goes south. I'm told that since I do in-house closings for their affiliate at a rate of $XX that they can only offer the same $XX for overnight docs and an additional $25 for e-docs. So the gentlemen on the other end asks me how far I'd be willing to travel for $X. I politely remind him that there are several factors different in the two types of services (i.e. commute time and fuel). He seems very aloof and rather condescending in his manner.

Since the in-house closings all take place about 1.7 miles from my home, I mentioned to him that if he's ever in need of someone to do mobile transactions (with overnight docs) for him within that range, please give me a call. To which he said he understood and the call ended abruptly.

Anyone still have enough energy after a busy EOM to give me some feedback? I try to be fair to all, including myself and that style works wonderfully for me, but in this instance if I'm in need of an attitude adjustment, I'll take it.
