Thanks Charm.
My family is all packed up and headed this way. Both my place, my son's place and even the new place with nothing in it at all when I close on it on Thursday will be full of Gulf Coast Storm Runners. My dad's group at son's place...my mom's troop at mine.
I was born in the Dow Hospital, about 6 miles as the crow flies from the Gulf of Mexico. I grew up on the coast and did not leave until 1999. I miss the beach, but gosh I am glad not to be there every September. I spent my third birthday running from Carla.
Carla's storm surge was horrible all the way inland about ten miles. This one will be bigger. I pray it goes in at the stretch where the King Ranch is. Not much there but prairie.
Hugh and I might get some wind, but we'll be fine up in the Central Texas area. One notary, Cindy/Angleton, is one her way up the road. Keep her in your prayers. During Carla, her home site had 8 foot of water in it.
Houston is not a good place to be either if there is a hit in Freeport to Beaumont. The wind and rain can be rough.

Re: Texan notaries... Brenda_TX
Glad to hear you and yours have safe havens from the storm!
I remember my first day in high school ... the ONLY day in history my mother picked me up by car ... it was a HUGE hurricane. As we were driving, an electric wire fell onto our car ... fortunately, my mother's car managed to drive us through the 1.5 to 2 feet of water on the road and we went off into safety! I can't remember the name of the hurricane, but I remember the fear/excitement.
I have moved exchanged hurricanes for earthquakes by moving to the west coast. Oh well, if isn't one thing, it's another!
Be safe! (And, again, good luck on the closing!)
