Work in Vegas

As someone that is in the process of becoming a Notary in Nevada, I am interested in the saturation in the Las Vegas area? Can anyone tell me if there is an over-abundance of Mobile Notaries in this area? I know right now we are in a re-fi frenzy, so I am hopeful there is some work at least part time.

thank you in advance...
Cheryl

ILNot,
Thank you for your advice, I have already looked at the list of NV Notaries, what that list doesnt tell me is about the opportunities out there for each of the Notaries on the list, much less new agents entering the field. I am interested in augmenting my current salary at this time, with the idea of perhaps being able to leave the job I have in the future. SOOOO tired of corporations telling me what my time is worth Smiley
SOOOO, If any NV people can clue me in, are there enough signings to go around??

Cheryl

I just had to chime in here Cheryl

You struck a nerve. I have been in both the corporate world and I have owende my own businesses. I now have a ctually owned my ow busiensses longer than I worked in the corporate envirnment. There are ofsetting benefits. When you work for a corporation you have your weekends free and your time after you leave work in the envenings. You have benefits such as health insurance and retirment planning. You on ly have the responsibility for your own job. Some of the things that are frequently overlooked by people interested inleaving the corporate world for the freedom to do the things they want is that frequently you work for a lot less when you are in business for yourself.

You have to provide for your own health, I put it that way because you need to check and see what your corporae health insurance is worth on the open market. My health insurance based on my age and a $5000 deductible runs over $300 a month. Then I have the overhead of the business and I have the responsibility of everything to do with my business, I also have additional burdens imposed on me by local governments, state governments and the federal government. I need to stay more informed and I need to do what needs to be done or I won't be in business for long. Tha usually means many weekends and evenings are spend tending to business if not necessarily tending to customers. I suspect that if I had stayed in my profession in the conpany I ws working for I probably would be either dead (from work related stress - my profession has a very high mortality rate) or a corporate VP with a private jet, a corner office suite in the financial district in San Francisco, no life and probably and alcoholic (many of my colleagues turned to alcohol for support) I would be more than likely quite wealthy. The rewards in my business are adequate for my needs, I am wealthy on paper but cash poor. Now I have my health and the freedom is priceless. The sun is out this morning and I am going to take a long trail bike ride along the beach and then take care of some personal maintnenace items around the house. I also live where I want, on the redwood coast in the summer, the rest of the time I float between San Francisco and Orange County and I do what I like: I love real estate, all of it, even notarizing the loans. I love owning real eestate and I even enjoy the property management. If you can handle the down-side of being in business for yourself there is ntohing like it but it comes at a high personal price and you really need to do a balance sheet and see if it s really worth it.

In my opinion there is not quite enough work for the notaries that are already here. I also know that the SS do not like to use part timers here in Las Vegas because the SA's here are mostly full time.
