double appts....
Got a call yesterday morning to do a signing today at 5, I accepted, said to send e-confirmation, she read my e-mail address and being in the middle of 5 things at once, I didn't get her number. It wasn't in my caller ID as I was on the phone when the call came in. All I know is that she was from 1st Amrican Title, which I see there are many of. Still, as of now no confirmation, and they are e-docs. This is about an hour RT and I don't want to go out there after dark...rural.
Now I just accepted a 5:30pm from another SS and got the confirmation right away, like usual. Also got a heads up that another may close later as well, and I plan on taking that one too. I hope this isn't unethical on my part but I'm trying to run a biz here!
I'm anxious to see what happens next. I hate this, because if somebody gets their act together and sends me a last minute confirmation and starts sending docs I'm going to have to be the bad guy and probably screw up with a TC. I heard some will shop for a lower fee, if that's the case here. Thanks low-balling notary and TC for not letting me know. I don't have any info on the borrowers either, of course.
Ahhh. the life of a SA

After having been burnt a few times in similar situations (one time I was driving on mountain roads during a snow storm with no way of pulling over to get the company contact info), if I am not in a position to write down contact info, I ask the agent to MAKE SURE to e-mail me the conformation ASAP so I can get it on my calendar as soon as I get back to my office. Usually joke about driving off a cliff if I try to drive and write at the same time. If I get back to the office and there is no confirmation, I don’t sweat it if I get another call during that appointment time. In almost all cases, I have returned to find the confirmation there. I figure I have made it clear that I would have no way of calling back to see if the appointment got canceled or assigned to a lowball pond scum. You know, the SA you wish would try to write down the confirmation while driving on mountain roads and end up driving off the cliff. Of course I don't want any harm to come of it...(TFIC) (tongue firmly in cheek)

Im sorry but if I get multiple calls from SS, TC or whaterver, the one who gets me the comfirmation letter first is the one who get my services. I had ocations when Im waiting for a comfirmation letter and sometimes it takes more than an hour and in that lapse of time someone calls for a signing at the very sametime on the one Im waiting a CL and I dont take the job and at the end the first call, calls later saying that signing is cancelling for some stupid reason, but I think its because they found a cheaper notary or other reason that doesnt matter for my business.

I had a situation ths week where I had taken a $50 signing (booked it last week) that was close to home, overnighted etc. I know, I know, my bad for taking a $50...
Anyway, subsequently to my confirming that appt, I received two calls, direct from escrow to do one signing right before and one right after the $50 signing. Together, I was making $275 for these other two signings.
Of course one got delayed, so I had to make the decision to cancel the $50 SS appt. I gave the SS a good 7 hours notice though, so I'm sure they didn't have a problem filling it. I felt kind of bad, but I sure wasn't going to give up either of my escrow signings for a $50 SS!

You did exactly what I would do in that case.
I dont take 50.00 but one time a took a 65.00 dollar one, and when the comfirmation letter came in my fax it had "cancelled" written from one corner of the paper to the other.
I said fine! I m pretty sure they found some one to do it for 50.00 But the day will come that I will call and cancell when I get something better than the one Im gettign from them.
