oops!

I did a signing last night and I forgot to get copies of their ID's. I completed the ID sheet that I am supposed to sign. I tried to call the borrower right after I left and I couldn't get in touch with them! What should I do? I am more than willing to drive back there to get the copies, but I can't seem to find them. Should I forward the docs without the copies?
TIA

And...

The closing sheet asked that I get copies of ID.

send the package. They would be very upset if docs are delayed. At worst would be slightly upset if copy of id is not included.
Several options on next step.
1. go back, get copies, fax to whoever you sent package to.
2. Take digital picture of ID and send as attachement to an e-mail.
3. have borrower fax copy to lender.

I was thinking that faxing the copies tonight or tomorrow would be my best bet. I just hope I can get in touch with the borrowers. These people live a good half hour from me (2 whole miles off of a real road!). I can't believe I forgot to get those.

Also

Still new at this...the borrower didn't want to sign the impound authorization form. I told him he didn't have to if he didn't want an impound account. Was I right?

Re: Also

As for the ID copies, you can also just give the borrower a phone number to fax in copies. That's what I used to do before I started carrying my digital camera with me. And as for the impound authorization. You can't force the borrower to sign anything. If they choose not to sign a particular page, that's between them and the lender.

Re: Also

The lenders will accept a digital picture of an ID? Isn't it hard to get a picture that is clear enough to read?

Re: Also

no. You can get a good copy of a DL with a digital. Before I stated using my camera, I practiced to see how to frame the DL. Try using a neutral background - white may cause too light a picture. Make sure you set on close up setting on camera.

Re: Also

No. That's why it's become such a popular way to get ID copies with many notaries. I just print them in black and white and boom --- it's done. This is especially helpful for some of the seniors who think I just need to see their ID. Simple, just aim and shoot.

Background suggestion -- Art

Hey Art, I've found that using my journal (it's a dark blue) makes a great background ... and I always have it with me.

Re: Also

I was just about to say the borrowers could send you a fax of the IDs, as LilyMD stated and if the borrowers do not want an impound account, just make a note of that on the documents.
