so much mistrust...
I normally just lurk and absorb what everyone else has to say but....
There have been two major issues (and lots of minor ones) causing some griping over the last month or two; the sudden proliferation of "notaries" who are basically clueless and the number of signing services that try to either dictate every move you make or avoid paying you.
I just turned down what would have been a profitable job because the signing service doesn't trust notaries (been burned too many times) and I couldn't accept the wording of the agreement (to much potential to be burned again).
I don't want to get into details or do a lot of moan and whining but this is just getting to be a sad state of affairs.....

Why did the Signing Service even call you if they don't trust Notaries?

I think what VT is getting at is that SS are starting to add conditions to the signing agreement that cover them for errors made by inept notaries. However in doing so, they place so many conditions that a notary might not want to agree to the conditions out of fear that a difference in interpretation might give the SS an easy out for not paying the SA for the service.
Ironic when you consider that some of these same SS have created the mistrust issue by contracting with bottom feeders. JMHO

I have noticed that some of these companies are setting demands and conditions that sit on a fine line between employee status vs. independent contractor. Setting the amount you are to be compensated, dictating what you are to wear, at what time you are to arrive and how you are to perform your duties IS employee status. jmo
