Re: In the washing machine
No...but I have come close to it falling in the toilet!! YUCK...
Is your sim card able to be saved? FYI - That's the computer chip that holds all of your phone numbers.

Re: In the washing machine
It doesn't have a sim card. I guess I'm in the market for a new cell phone....off to the Verizon store.

Re: In the washing machine
Since in AZ - it should have been dried out by now. I have submerged more than one phone...they all dried out the next day. Took it apart and left it open.

Re: In the washing machine
I've seen this happen twice. My bother's phone dried out and worked fine for a couple more years. More recently, my husband's phone went through the machine and didn't fair so well. It got donated to the toybox.

I spilt coffee on mine two days ago......
and I was devastated! My phone wouldn't go past the Verizon screen and would read something like "Genuine Battery only", and it started to count down from 5 seconds (at which point it automatically shut off).
I went to my parents apartment (second floor from me) and asked them to use their battery. (They have similar phones that use the same exact battery.) Again, same message!
I was devastated because the number I use is registered everywhere! All my clients have it, business associates, etc. Not to mention that my phone has like 100 numbers that I don't remember off the top of my head!
Luckily after using a hair blower and shaking the hell out of it, it turned on later that night. THANK GOD! I've dropped this phone countless times, and yet, to this day, after two years, it works perfectly and is in perfect condition.

I did that about 2 years ago. It wouldn't turn on, so I opened it up and blew it dry and it started working again. It had a couple kinks in it for about 2 weeks, then it was as good as new.

I dropped one into a swimming pool once while I was officiating a swim meet. I had one of the swimmers dive in and retrieve it for me. Once it dried out, it worked fine for a couple of more years.

I pay a little extra each month for insurance - thatway,if anything at all happens to it I can get it replaced for free. Just food for thought.

My sad tale involves the keys to the car....
Running errands, finishing up paperwork....time to do the laundry. Since my better half ran away I have ceased checking pockets before throwing things in the wash. Put in the load of shorts, tossed them into the dryer and heard this funny noise...suddenly it all became crystal clear....I had WASHED the key to my car! Ya'll know the one with that black triangular do-hickey with the buttons to turn off your alarm, open the trunk, the gas cap AND start the car...holy batman I was in a panic because I only have one key to that car. Got it out of the dryer and sorta looked at it for awhile, guess I thought it was going to talk to me. Because of the visions I had of trying to find a ride to the dealer to get another computerized key I put off "testing" it until the next day.....I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT WHEN IT WORKED! Needless to say I never put that key anywhere other than on the key rack when I'm in the house!

If you lock your keys in the car and you have one of those, call your spouse (assuming they have one of those things to your car) and have them push the button while you hold the phone to the car. Don't laugh...it works.

AUGH! It was slightly more amusing reading this, than experiencing it. I just did the same thing last night. You'd think, after 20-odd years of being Mom to a BOY, you'd check pockets out of sheer habit ...

MB AZ - Cell phone thread put the hoo doo on mine.
Called T-Mobile for a phone. Mine quit taking a charge all of a sudden. With a two-year contract I could get my phone for $39.95 - Around $47 drive out. For $89 / one year contract...for no contract - $169.00.
I said no thanks and ordered it on eBay. Nicer phone $53.00 del'd to my door. We'll see. I don't want to be locked into ancient contracts.

I once dropped a cell phone in a toilet on a college campus. Needless to say, that phone went bye-bye.
It seems that whether or not the phone survives anything depends on how many times its been dropped. I used to drop my phone all the time. Then, one LCD screen would go out. Or it shut off by itself. Now I have insurance for my phone.
