Anyone else get a FedEx Package from FASS today

regarding a background check? I am just wondering why they would send this to me AND why it was so important to Fed Ex the package instead of email. That’s money they could be using to better compensate the signing agents. In addition, they have included a nice "Payment for Service" chart that you have to sign accepting those fees.

The highest they pay is Purchase closing $90.00 (I’m really laughing now)
Re-fi $50.00
Borrower refused to sign $50.00
Trip Fee $35.00 (closer must wait 30 minutes)

Yea, I'll be sure to send this back! NOT!
These fees are so ridiculous -- If someone is so desperate to accept such a ridiculously low fee, then they should not be in this business. Accepting such a low fee indicates one is starving for work.

Didn't get this one BUT my trip fee is a lot more than their Re-fi...... This would be funny if it weren't so ridiculous that it ticks ya off..........

The $50 fee is the base fee we prefer to pay for a local signing within a 10-15mi radius.

You are free to cross out the price structure and write in your usual closing fees. Our Lenders are requesting the background checks, which we will run at our expense.

Eventually, we will begin to determine which agents are fulltime in a given area and attempt to limit the number of notaries we will use, in order to generate more volume for the notaries we know First American can count on being dedicated to us.

Please feel free to contact myself or our database manager Rebecca Ballinger 877-286-6993 x2077 with any questions you may have.

I got your package yesterday and will not be filling out all that paperwork. I did a closing for them for more $ than what was listed. I just asked when they called. It was within 2 miles of my house. Whats funny is the post closing girl called me today...."Amanda, did that loan from March 12th close?" I asked her, "Are you serious? That was over a month ago."

Amanda: I have had time to search our records and found the signing you mentioned. We failed to list you as a post notary, so you could go on line after the signing and post the return tracking number. This was a same day request, with 1 hour notice and a $75 fee, which we assigned to you on FASS# 2166814 with a fee for $75, on 03/06/06.

Would you still have a record of this tracking number? I would be pleased to update the information in our files, should you have it. You can either email this info to me, or call if you wish.

You are exactly the type of notary I wish to have in my database to call upon for assistance, and do hope we can receive your information back.

Thank you,
Shelley Weinman

Re: $75 = $50/signing and $25/printing. WOW!

And a 1 hour notice to boot. I hope Amanda didn't spend it all in one place.

Oh joy, another passive aggressive butthole from a signing service posting on here. At least have the balls to make the point you really want to make, and not hide it in in a big pile of bullshit

How long have you been there Shelley? The 'dedicated' $50 notaries will again be cut out for yet cheaper notaries in a few years. What happened to the initial $60 notaries that were 'dedicated' - many of us on board since your company's inception - have you been there long enough to remember the initial recruitment packages - video, snazzy red/white/blue folder, fancy pager system, etc? We were paid $60, full fee for no shows/no signs, can't remember the fee for prior to 2 hour cancellation. Then you dropped fees to $50 without so much as any notice or a goodbye to the 'dedicated' $60 vendors. Fortunately for most of us 'dedicated' notaries, as companies like yours have lowered fees we have found companies that appreciate our experience and pay for it - oh one more thing - unlike your company that when they screw up try to get the notary to fix it and try to intimidate us - had to sic the president of my state notary organization and a SOS attorney on you guys before you agreed that I was right and you were 100% wrong and what you were asking was 100% illegal but since you guys had an unperfected lien 2 years after the loan was signed, I guess you figured intimidation wouldn't work - wrong.

Re: bull

Sue: I have been here for just shy of a year. Though we do list a $50 base fee, notaries are free to list whatever they wish, simply cross out the $50 and list $60, 65 or $75, etc...

$50 is for access to SOAP (Self Appointing Access) where you can request an available signing ahead of time, which gives you greater control of your schedule. The idea was to generate volume.

I would be pleased to discuss at length, if you wish to contact me. Shelley W 877-286-6993 x2452.

Independent Agreements / Attorney States

I think this packet should have been addressed to my supervising attorney. I am in an attorney state and feel it should be the attorney agreeing to these terms and background check, not me.

** My suggestion** If you receive this packet and are in an attorney state, please be sure to have your attorney review the agreement to advise.

Since I am a Paralegal under the supervision of an Attorney, I feel signing a document agreeing to terms of an “Independent Loan Closer” may be injudicious.

We will still use part time and full time agents. We are looking to deal with our notaries on a regular basis.

I'm sure you are (regular basis), especially at these rates:

"The highest they pay is Purchase closing $90.00 (I’m really laughing now)
Re-fi $50.00
Borrower refused to sign $50.00
Trip Fee $35.00 (closer must wait 30 minutes)"

I feel left out, I have done a dozen signings in the last year for FASS, when the gas prices here went up, I told the scheduler that called (for a signing 30 miles one way) that I couldn't do it for your base fee, and that I would have to get at least $20 more. Said she would call me back, never did, and I haven't heard from you since. Has far as I know there was never a problem with my services. So what gives?

Fass is a joke

I had the "pleasure" of speaking with Abby from Fass last week and she became annoyed with me when I wouldnt accept $50 for overnight docs 40 miles away.........Shelly do me a favor and dont waste my time ... I dont walk out the door for less than $100.

Re: Fass is a joke

I've had the same issue too, but only with FASS...but with many of the SS's out there. I'm don't understand why they can't accept our fee's due the experience, skills and professionalism. To me...it's an insult (ok a slap in the face) by not accepting our fee's.

I hate it when they say they will call back if the fee is accepted and they never call back. Or if they ignor your communications of your fees.

The thing is...FASS is not guilty of it and that is why if they can't accept my fee, then oh well!! Then they wonder why they are so desperate for notaries!

Fees...

I called Shelley direct... She is very polite and professional.
The fees are a starting point, not written in stone.

If you have questions, call her and have your fee schedule ready for discussion.

Re: Fees...

I'll pass. Shelley may be polite and nice (although she did manage to conveniently avoid responding to any of the less flatering posts in this thread) , but the company she works for sucks donkey d***.

Between their cheap ass fees (trust me Ray, they're written in stone, at least in Southern CA) and their insulting emails that address all of their notaries as if they've never done a signing before, why anyone would waste their time with them is beyond me.

Now that FASS can't hold the FATCO escrow officers hostage to using FASS exclusively (they refused), they need to use new notaries who'll accept lower fees to gain experience.
