CA Grant Deed
Searched, but could not find answer on board.
A CA Grant Deed has no notarial wording and an All-Purpose-Acknowledgement certificate is attached (with correct wording).
Wherefore, does the deed itself, need to be stamped? This is my first time seeing a Grant Deed with no notarial wording or (seal) request.
Thanks!

Pam, don't let it throw you. What do we notarize? We notarize signatures. In CA the only time we are to use our stamp is when we perform a notarial act by placing our seal on the notarial certificate. This question could only come from a newbie. Go read your handbook it is made quite clear in it when and only when we are to use our seal.

SaraBeth, Re: CA Grant Deed
Thank You for replying!
I forgot to state that yes, there was both date and signature lines on the deed, and the person did sign (it was already dated).
However, there was no notarizal wording. It was the thought that in California all Grant Deeds have to be notarized. Because the wording wasn't there, I completed a certificate but honestly just didn't know if the deed itself had to be stamped!

That was nice, SB
I'm trying hard to be so as well, but it's taking all my will power.

TG, even I have my moments
Now if it would have been "what do I put where it says venue" that would've been a whole different story.

From the sound of the post, I am thinking that you're not a CA Notary. Therefore, I will provide the following. In California, many times the Notary Certificate (wording) is on the next page, or another page than that of the signatures. This is ok. Complete the notary certificate, placing your stamp/seal near your official signature on the Notary Acknowledgment Certificate. You do not place your stamp on the page without the notary wording.

Good Morning!'
Yes, I am a California notary but have only completed a few signings. This is the first time I've seen a Grant Deed with only signature and date lines and no notarial wording or venue. There was also no additional pages with notarial wording for this document!
I Appreciate everyones help and Thank You!

If there is no additional pages that has notarial wording, then you need to attached a certificate of acknowledgment. Hope this helps.

Re: CA Grant Deed - Terri CA - new feature on NR
There is a state designation next to the poster's name. Helpful, I think.
