CA Notaries: how long does it take?
How long does it take now to renew a CA commission from start to finish, including all the steps from application, class, to having your seal ready to go?
Also, for a new CA notary, never commissioned, how long does that process take today?

I can't tell you how long it takes for a new notary, because it's been so long since I've been new. I know that it is a lot faster for a new notary than a renewing notary.
When I had to renew, I made the mistake of procrastinating and boy did I regret that. It took FOREVER. So my advice is, if you need to renew, do it as soon as possible when you receive your notice that you are up for renewal.

LOL Becca!
I saw the first post and thought, oh boy, let me tell ya....then saw yours!
Okay, I took my test on 2/11 and got my commission papers on the last day of March. No fun to wait, no fun at all.
Figure two months and that is pushing the envelope. When I do it again, I'll give it no less than 3 months before I start the process and now I get it when the SOS says to start six months prior.

I took my exam on February 25th and I received my stamp & oath on April 2nd. I was really worried becuase my current commission expires on 4/29/06 and was told I would have a lapse but NO! I am ready to go :>
I would also like to state that I purchased my bond / insurance & all supplies from Notary Rotary and they are the best.... FAST, RELIABLE, and GREAT QUALITY & EXCELLENT PRICES!!!!

SDGirl, me too
Extremely fast, excellent quality and price for all of the above...bond, insurance and supplies.
I couldn't recommend anyone else after doing business with Notary Rotary - they are "all that".

David it would be my opinion to begin the renewal process 6 months prior, new notary I would be planning on 3-4 months, if in either case they come sooner, your good to go. It's called planning ahead when one must rely on others.
