Cliquer's Unite!
This is what I still don’t get about the clique thing, especially in regard to Independent thought. Consider these “clique” members:
Calinotary. I don’t for one nano-second think that Cali, if he disagreed with anything I posted would hesitate to eat me for lunch (not literally for you gutter snipes). If I held a thought/theory that was at odds with his; he’d have no hesitation blasting me right off this board with his better English/articulation skills. In fact, I’m shocked I didn’t get the backside of his tongue for my Joan/Kelly comments.
Brenda: Brenda doesn’t write posts…she writes life experiences, stories, blogs and things about human nature that support the point she’s trying to make. She’s a story teller, not a “Cliquer”.
Charm. A very social, friendly, well-liked poster who posts warm fuzzies, support to newbies, and comments on notary issues. Also, she knows how to call a spade a spade and does so frequently…and usually with a witty/sarcastic version of “spade”. Also if you’re stupid, watch out. She doesn’t tolerate stupidity.
PAW. Above the fray. Pretty smart guy.
Becca. In my mind, she’s the little hellion of notaries. Has taken her business to the most sophisticated of levels with her mobile office and has HELPED a lot of people do the same. Isn’t scared of anyone, anyone! She’ll see through BS with Xray vision eyes and calls it!!
And since I’ve been lumped into this elite group for reasons I still can figure out, titlegal. See I have nothing to lose here. I told Kelly Robertson this two days ago in an email. I am not in business as a full time notary, but I am a notary. I could care less what signing services think of my posts because I now get most of my work from my own employer (thank God, I’m grateful for that). I tend to open my mouth and insert my foot on a regular basis and I never ONCE applied to the Clique. I got put there, by you consipiracy theorists. I’ve never once met any of the Cliquers. I’ve only talked to ONE of them on the phone! There is no conspiracy, because we don’t know each other. My absolute Hero in this business RARELY posts here, but when she does, it's earthshaking (yeah, you Renee).
Just because I respect the opinions and posts of the above only means I have the ability to recognize very sharp, saavy individuals. It does not mean I’m kissing their a$$ for posting privileges. I get that by my membership. I don’t get goodies, favors, free haircuts, or even a pen for my posts.
So…since everybody wants to believe in a conspiracy theory, I say, “Cliquer’s Unite”! Let’s take over the world! I mean, if we’ve taken over Notary Rotary, what’s left? Shall we take our keyboards and go on over to GMN and take care of those people too? Ha, we’ll show ‘em who’s boss…..yep, these Cliquers are needed over there too….
See how utterly ridiculous this whole conversation is??? C’mon all - lets be big boys and girls.

I know my limitations with language...heck this post took me the better part of the day, I'm exhausted. Besides, you and Cali are the Masters of Language here..
WAIT! No, Brenda is. The best, she's the best writer of all time. Absolutely the best - nobody does it better and she IS my Hero...of everything.

Did somebody say "dessert"
You know I'm there. I'm thinking pie. What kind of pie? Cherry, coconut cream, caramel apple, lemon meringue, peach, blueberry, pecan, banana cream, key lime, pumpkin, apple, pineapple (haven't had it yet but it sounds yummy), french silk, the list just goes on. Just about any would do because I love pie.

Re: Cliquer's Unite! - It's the big one 'Lizbeth!
** absolute Hero in this business RARELY posts here, but when she does, it's earthshaking (yeah, you Renee).**
Reading that broke her Texas heart right in two.
Falling to her knees, hands clasped over her heart...the queen of clique drama fell over in a heap. And it wasn't such a pretty heap, either...especially when the act was over and she had to get up off the floor. In fact, it was darned ugly after that...so ugly that she drank an entire .45 fl. oz. bottle of black stamp ink in an attempt to end it all.
What it ended was her having white teeth. The next day, she attended two inspections with teeth a shade darker than Institutional Grey. It was okay, though, because she pretended they were metal teeth.
The next day, the fickle one known as Titlegal wrote a post about another hero who had impressed the title company notary. Heartbroken at also falling from the hero's status, Renee' flew to Texas and took a swig of the black ink. With black lips and grey teeth they started their own clique known as the "Black Lip and Grey Teeth Clique."
They bought mopeds and rode them for no apparent reason.
And, no one gave them any crap.
The End

What a GREAT line – Brenda, you have SO missed your true calling. This could’ve come right out of a John Irving novel, at LEAST Tom Robbins. Hey - you and me and our metal teeth, we don't intend to end up in N. CA because the reason was never apparent to us. One day, though, we show up to collect from T/G ...
Apparently, my dear Titlegal, you HAVE been getting my checks …. (Thanks & BLESS your heart)
On topic – Whenever more than 2 people gather, groups will form – it’s human nature. For every grouping, there is at least one OTHER grouping of those that aren’t in the FIRST group. It’s human nature to group together where we can feel (real or perceived) approved of. Approval seeking is INSTINCT, it is a tool used by the species for survival. It’s therefore rather inane to accuse people of forming groups.
In the neighborhood where you live, there are groups – there’s the group of neighbors that gets together, the group that doesn’t get together, and the group that keeps their curtains closed at all times because they perceive that the other two groups will call them names if they catch a glimpse of them. At work, there’s the group that eats lunch together and the group that doesn’t, and then there’s the group that bowls on Tuesdays. Of course there are groups here on NotRot and everywhere else that more than 2 human beings gather.
Approval = feeling liked. The number one reason one person likes another person? Because they sense that the other person likes them. It’s that simple, and that profound. (For every rule there’s something outside the margin breaking the rule, but this is a psych. generalization.)
So, that’s something to think about. If you feel drawn to a group and you want inclusion – consider the above. Perhaps it’s that simple – perhaps it is not perceived that YOU like THEM.
Now, on to Psych Rule #2 – Johari’s Window: You cannot escape the filter of your own ego, it is impossible for a person to see himself or herself the way others see them. You cannot, no matter HOW enlightened you are, EXPERIENCE yourself in the way any other person EXPERIENCES you.
How that ties into NotRot and the “cliques” and the most important lesson there is to learn here: Listen to the Crowded Room. Here on this board, you have the opportunity to obtain unveiled (and then some …) perceptions of how others EXPERIENCE you. How you INTEND yourself is regardless, it truly is – for what good does it do you to INTEND to be a nice or kind or helpful person, if the prevailing perception of you is as a person other than kind or nice? Their perception of you, or how they experience you is NOT something that can be “right” or “wrong”. It is what is. To become defensive is emotionally immature – it is to say “YOU are wrong, because I AM NICE.” I hope I’m making this easy to understand, because once you understand this – it’s a huge life lesson, and there’s an incredible opportunity to learn here.
Listen to the Crowded Room’s perceptions, take heed of how you are experienced, and remember that they CAN NOT be “wrong”. They are the only eyes through which you can catch a glimpse through Johari’s Window.

Re: Cliquer's Unite! LMAO
I do not get the clique thing either. Maybe I’m just obtuse to the whole “clique” thing.
What I do see is many great posters with grand advice who are frequently offering noble words of wisdom.
I call them the “givers”.
I love to read Mother Brenda’s posts. She is by far-hands down, my most favorite poster. Brenda reminds me of my former English 101 Professor…she can turn one sentence into 10 paragraphs. Next, I would name Winston…you just gotta love those Winston posts…he keeps me busy with the dictionary - I think I learn at least five new words with every post. Then there is the smart wise ass…..the one and only Calinotary. Hey, if the Dorothy post didn’t make you laugh, then you were obviously born without a funny bone. I enjoy the and off topic humor courtesy of Charm, and the Good-morning greetings from Teddog.
I just have so many favorites on Notary Rotary that I could go on and on. They are those that post on a regular basis. They are the ones that have the backbone to reveal fallacy. They are cyber-mentors. (you know who you are )
Then, there are the ones that show up overnight…..
Yea, you know…The “takers”.
It always goes something like this:
I just got my notary certificate in the mail and I want to do loans and stuff and could someone email me a list of the companies I need to sign up with. What is a jurat? What is an acknowledgement? Do I need to see an ID to notarize? …and so on
They are the ones that want answers and want them now. Takers can be somewhat indignant at times.
Finally, we get to the self-righteous. These types of posters are usually the ones to complain about cliques, and seem to think they know-it-all and do not take criticism well. Sometimes they appear on the forum as anonymous. The self-righteous have a tendency to attempt to lead the takers.
Everyone contributes something on this forum. I enjoy reading ALL posts, for it is very entertaining.

Re: Cliquer's Unite! Part II
I should have included these Clique-r’s as well. They are as much a part of Cliquedom as any of the prior:
SarahBeth. SarahBeth has a razor sharp mind… and tongue. If I had to pick a female counterpart to Calinotary, she would be it. Fearless, tells it like it is, and with an added bonus of being THE expert in Movie Trivia. She would be first on my invite list for a party and I’ll bet she’s the life of the party. Would love to get SarahBeth drunk but she probably doesn’t imbibe as she has small children. Poor thing.
Charles. Charles is a rare man among men nowadays. He is articulate, accomplished and amazingly knowledgeable in the area of real estate in California. This board is VERY lucky to have him. Also he is a Gentleman. Ladies, we all know there are very few Gentlemen in the world, so he’s truly a gem. Also, he’s pretty darn good in expressing his abhorrence of certain individuals.
Beth/Lily MD. I don’t mean to lump you guys together, it’s just that both of you are very much alike in telling it like it is. Is this something homegrown in Maryland? If so, and my son gets that firefighting job at Dover AFB, I’ll be out twice a year and hope to meet you someday…lets get together and gossip about everyone (at least the conspiracy theorists, please!)
MichiganAl. Wow, what a personality. We need more MichiganAl’s. Where have you been, on GMN? They don’t deserve you, but NR does.
Winston. Another personality…and hello…articulate? I have to pause between words to get it. You’ve been lurking all this time? You could have had an admirer all these long months….
And Hugh…(see Winston and Hugh are alike, don’t you think?) You’ve been withholding your pearls of humor for a long time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post where you actually help someone though. Are you truly a Notary? I’m wondering about that.
Carolyn. Where the hell are you?? Don’t you know that scaring the crap out of newbies is part of the job of being a Cliquer?? Your eagle eye has been missed lately.
Della, Bonnie (CA/CO) You guys are way too normal to mention in the Clique'r hall of shame.
Oops sorry Korey and SarahB. The Justice Leaguers, not Clique-r’s
And, I simply have to say something about FlaMac. I mean, she’s pretty ballsy, you know? She’s been called bipolar, psychotic, a menace to newbies, needs Lithium, insane…the list goes on and one, yet, she STILL comes back for more! I don’t care what anybody says, the woman has endurance, and should be commended for it.
BTW the only thing required to be on the Clique list is to post at least once a day, and to be accused as part of the "regulars". See, those of you that truly have lives only come here now and then. You’re normal, the Clique-r’s need you more than you need the Clique-r’s. And those that bash the Clique-r’s (regulars, old-timers, whatever) are REALLY needed. Otherwise, how would we get our jollies? Without you, we have NOTHING to post about.
And if not included, it’s only because to do the list I only went back 4 pages of posts and picked the most obvious offenders; if you’re name isn’t here, be proud, you have a LIFE and we Clique-r’s are so jealous of you, so there.
And, if this post annoys you, it is BrendaTX's fault. She encourages me.
