I know they're bad news, but didn't remember that when I accepted the signing while travelling to an appointment earlier today. When I arrived at the office, I pulled up their confirmation and saw the fax-back requirement, which I don't do without an additional fee.

I emailed them back and let them know that I wouldn't be able to do this signing, which is scheduled for tomorrow. The only response I've received is for DG to forward the loan documents to me.

Do I just ignore them, since they are ignoring me? I have absolutely no intention of doing this loan signing. It's not worth my time to have to hassle them to get payment, much less sue, as I see that some others have contemplated to get their payment from this company.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? You cancel the assignment from your end and the SS just goes along as if you've never said anything? How did you handle it without doing damage to your reputation as a professional?

I would call them, they're gonna say they never received the e-mail and it's then that you'll have the battle for your rep.

My thought exactly. Call them. You can't depend on e-mail.

Oh, I had already called and left voice mail before I sent the email.

Interestingly enough, the LO just called me to "go over a few things on this transaction". I very nicely explained to him that I would not be doing this signing and that I had notified the company already.

Hopefully that's the end of it. I tried to be nice. We'll see what the fallout is.

I just received a very nice email back from them stating that she has had some problems and is working on them. I wish her all the luck in the world. Smile

If any notaries ever do need to "back out" of a closing the problem with e-mail and even VM is it is not a general message center, is that if the person you are sending it to is not there or has left for the day no one will know you sent the e-mail until its too late.

A lot of times there is more than one shift at the signing service and you may e-mail the person whom was working in the morning but has left for the day. The best thing to do when accepting a closing is to make sure to get an afterhours number so you can reach someone, if they don't answer the afterhours number then that is their fault and there is not much else you can do.
