HELP! I made a terrible mistake!

I just realized that I accidently dropped a UPS document package into a FED EX drop box. By the time a realized it, it was already 1/2 hour past pick-up time. Has anyone out there ever done this, and if so, how did you handle the situation?

UPS will either drop it into a fed-ex box or take it to US Mail. US Mail will then drop it Fed-Ex box will delay process by 1 day MAX. if lucky will get there tomorrow just the same. Thi has happened to somebody I know

I haven't, but it's easy enough to do. Did you try calling the nearst Fedex main terminal? Should be able to find it online or the phone book if you don't know where it is at. All the trucks go to a main terminal before they head to the airport. Call them, tell them what you did and they probably could head that off at the pass for you. You might have to do a little driving depending on where you are at. The bad news would be the docs will be a day later.

I feel so STUPID. I'm so used to most all of my documents being Fed Ex, especially for the company I was signing for, that I just had a brain fart. I've ALMOST done this before, but caught myself in time. Today has been a day from Hell and this is all I needed to do to top it off! Now I get to go and get my income taxes done, YIPEE!! NOT!!

Thank you for your suggestions. It won't be so bad if the package is delayed a day, because I didn't actually have to send it until tomorrow. If there are any EVIL repercussions, I'll let you all know. I take FULL responsibility for this STUPID error, just want everyone to know that. I'm sure though, that it has happened to others besides me. Thanks again everyone for your input. It is GREATLY appreciated!

no big deal.... it does create a one-day delay while FEDEX gets it back to UPS, tho...

Yes, I have done the same thing. Call the company that contracted you and alert them to the mistake. Chances are UPS will see to it that it gets to FedEx.

Re: HELP! I made a terrible mistake! I have not yet made

this mistake but one can certainly see how easy it could happen. I agree with the other poster, no need to beat yourself up over the situation, what's done is done and out of your control, I would alert all concerned parties however.

Re: HELP! I made a terrible mistake! - I will lay odds that

this happens often. It's almost happened to me many times. People who "do" make mistakes...just hang tight and it will work itself out.

Track it!

Both FedEx & UPS usually will drop it into the right box. If it 'tracks', they did it... and you'll get some sleep tonight. If not, you still do have that extra day. Good luck!

Don't beat yourself up whitesatin. I dropped off a personal shipment to UPS a few months ago. But I didn't tape the shipping pouch down securely. Luckily there was a FedEx sticker underneath from when the package was first delivered to me. UPS gave the package to FedEX and FedEx delivered the package to me. Made for some confusion, but it all worked out in the end! Good luck to you.

Thanks to all for your support and suggestions. I tracked the package this morning and it had ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED! I couldn't believe it! I'm in California and the package was going to the east coast. Thanks again everyone!
