IN/MD Title Insurance Class?

Who on this board SUFFERED thru it on Mon. and Tues. at the Radisson in Merrillville, IN?

Would the MD people please respond also. I want to know do they really charge $3500 for YOUR classes. A lady at a SS told me that's how expensive it is in Maryland to get the Title Ins. Producer's License there. I can't believe it!

Re: MD class NOT $3500??!!

I don't remember. She called from a SS to encourage me to take the IN class for $300. By telling me that MD charges $3500, I guess I was supposed to realize what a DEAL we had here. I can't believe she just flat-out LIED!

Me and my longtime girlfried were there. I belive the big amout that MD signers have to invest in is the bond.

I paid $545 to MLTA for the class, $88 for license exam, $54 for the license, and $306 for bonding.

Re: How much is the MD bond?

Maybe so! I aim to find out.

If you don't mind, what's your first name? I'm wondering if I met you and your g.f. there. I was surprised at how many were NOT from NWI. Aren't you down South?

Thanks.

Re: $1023 for MD!!!!

It's not $3500, but it's still TERRIBLY expensive! Is it WORTH it? You all charged much more for your signing fees after that, right?

No that's not it. It is REQUIRED by the state of MD to have

it or you can not do loan closings. Most companies in MD and nationwide, I think, won't even work with you if you don't have it.

Yes, alot of companies are finally realizing the need for a TPL. I've had a lot more ask if I'm a TPL in the last 6 months or so.

I was there 2 months ago. I apologize but it was a waste of my time. The instructor was from florida and did not give anything specific on the state of Indiana. Scheduling timing was poor( why would you schedule during the busiest time of the month. Needless to say my review of the class was not good but hey now I can go out and charge higher fees since I am certified by the state. Watch out NREIS here I come.
