I take $40 jobs

I take $40 jobs - but they certainly aren't loan signings!

I don't leave my home for less than $100 for loan work. eDocs extra.

I charge $30 and up plus seal fees to notarize non-loan documents for people. Most appointments pay around $65.

Each appointment is usually 15 minutes or less drive time each way and 20 minutes or less at the appointment. Might take longer if they have a dog. I love dogs.

Everyone pays on the spot, usually in cash. No eDocs, no fax-backs, no Fed Ex. No signings failing at table because of LO lies. Non-loan clients have never treated me as badly as most SSs - and now many TCs - treat NSAs.

Most of you have already purchased my marketing booklet, so I am not pushing that.

This post is to encourage you to diversify your services and continue to demand decent fees for loan work. Start with beefing up your website and buying a cheap listing in the yellow pages. My monthly non-loan income now exceeds my loan income and takes far fewer hours of my time.

What inspired me to post this message:
*Turning down 3 low-pay jobs from Nreis this week
*Noticing a huge increase in posts on this board about significant decreases in what TCs are willing to pay.

I hope my post inspires YOU to stand your ground on loan fees and diversify your services!

I was scared to open this one! I'm with you about diversifying. I made $400 yesterday morning without leaving my office. A regular customer called regarding having a particular form typed up, asked if it could be done within two hours. When I called him saying it was ready less than half an hour later, he doubled my usual fee! Since I keep his information on file, all he had to give me was the location he wanted the paperwork to reflect.

Not bad for barely being out of my pj's... and he came by to pick up the docs with cash in hand. Ahhhhhhhhh... I love working for me! Smile

I agree, I did buy your material and followed your advice. Diversify, Diversify, Diversify!!!. Now I have trained for a profession that is getting much respect. No competition at all. I turned down a 2 week long assignment in Seattle,WA. I do not have 2 weeks available in the time frame they wanted. They needed me there the last 2 weeks of April but I am already booked. Right now I am booked through 6/10. They were desperate but I have more than enough work in Florida. I get emailed assigments and I decline the job due to price, I put the price I will do it for and the next day the job is assigned to me again with the adjusted price. My phone is ringing off the hook and I love naming my price and getting it. My phone still rings for notary work and it is so great to say NO!!. I now make more in 1 week than I have in a entire month.

When they talk about not accepting low fees, they're talking

about loan signing services. Not a general service request from the public.

If you were to accept $40 from a signing service to close a loan, then, well, you'd be working for free.

I have no problem serving the public if they meet my fees (usually no less then $50 per travel). I actually had a "basic" notary service request today. A lady from a town next to my own wanted two documents notarized. She needed two jurat's to be exact. I told her that my fee was $50 since she was within three miles of my location. Luckily she agreed and I fullfilled her request.

Attention Notary Humphreys

You are singing to the choir over there, Korey-bob. Laura is an accomplished writer and NSA.

I would suggest you purchase her book but, oh yeah...you are that guy who would skin a flea for his hide and tallow.

Smile

Not posting a name of a company/product doesn't mean it's

not promoting something.

I emailed someone saying this same thing but you all know this company...

"can you hear me know?" ........................................."Can you hear me know?"......................."what about now?"

Very slick marketing on your part

"Most of you have already purchased my marketing booklet, so I am not pushing that." If this is so why mention it? Again congratulations on marketing your book to at least 3 people.

Ahem, if I "overlook" things it is intentional.

I want to be the only star.

You do what??!!

Oh, that. Me, too. I charge $50 and it's usually within 20 minutes. I do a few a week and consider it weekend Guinness money.
