Illinois Signing Agent License
I understand that Illinois is one of four state that have to have a "Producers License" before becoming a Notary Signing Agent (Closing Agent).
For several hours today I called several Illinois State offices and on the internet trying to find out which forms and the process needed to become an Illinois Signing Agent.
One website said the form is "Independent Escrow EE". I cannot find it on the Illinois Website.
Can anyone PLEASE help?
Thanks, Sheila

It might be quicker and easier to go to the National Notary Association website. They should be able to tell you the requirements for your state. Check out "nationalnotary.org".

The Illinois requirements are either a Title Company, Title Agent or Independent Escrowee. This requirement is part of the Title Insurance Act. The state office that deals with this is ILDFPR. Title Insurance Division.

Whatchout for the NNA when it comes to state specific questions. They aren't always correct. If you want to be an NSA get some training. Read message 33325. And above all your states laws are the end all be all not the NNA. Google title producers licence illinois and see what you find. Research is the key to this.
