Message to new notaries: Avoid The Notary Biz
This advice, while primarily for new notaries, could help existing ones as well. If I were you, I'd avoid The Notary Biz. Their support is never consistent from job to job. I've done about 8 signings for them and I'm not impressed with either the level or quality of their representatives. Sometimes they return your calls, sometimes they don't, and when they do return your call, the wait is over 30 minutes long. Other times, I've left messages for them to call me about docs that weren't sent over or posted on the Internet, and I never get a call back to verify that a job had been cancelled, when it had been cancelled. It doesn't bother me that a job ends up cancelled at the last minute, that's the business, but they should at least give me a minute's courtesy and update me by email or phone. It's as if they think I'm an intern secretary or something. This is just unprofessional. Later today, I'm writing them a letter to ask them to remove me from their database, I have other SS companies with which I have professional communications that work. That's my 2 cents worth for today, have a good day.

Re: I have had positive experiences with them.
Maybe a little bit overly protective, but altogether a good experience.

Are you sure you are talking about THE Notary Biz or Notary Biz. There is a difference.

Don't even get me started on THE Notary Biz. I would be
happy if they took me out of their database for good.

The Notary Biz out of Lake Forest CA is OK by me
If we are talking about the notary biz out of Lake Forest CA with Liz at the helm, then I have nothing but good stuff to say about them. They were one of the first companies to give me a chance when I started 'way back when'. Yes, they handhold for a while, but in my case, they know that I am a professional and do an excellent job, therefore I am left on my own. They pay as well as the others and pay within 30 days. Although I haven't heard from them in the past few months (hey Liz, if you are reading this, don't forget the old Doc)...I would still take their signing in an instant, unless it is on the Sabbath or already booked. Re: The Notary Biz out of Lake Forest CA is OK by me
Yes, we are talking about The Notary Biz out of Lake Forest, CA. Sorry I've been away for some time and haven't read the responses to my post. I'll share one bad experience with this company. Got a call to do a Sunday afternoon signing in a city 20 miles away from my house. Took the signing and called the borrower. Set up appointment. Headed down to the location. Halfway there, I got a call from agent at The Notary Biz. Signing had been cancelled. OK, no biggie, so I head back with the useless docs. However, they weren't useless, because not twenty minutes later I got a call from loan company. Where are you, person asked, and I stated that I had been notified of a cancellation. Nonsense, said the person, Mrs. So-and-so is waiting for you to meet her. So I headed back down the freeway and to deal with a cranky Mrs. So-and-so, who was late because I was late meeting her, because of The Notary Biz not having their ducks lined up about this signing.
Now, I admit that if this was the only incident of faulty communication, then it wouldn't be a big deal. But it's not the only case.
If the SS companies want consistency in our work, then it's prudent for us to expect the same level of professionalism from us, no?
Anyway, I haven't written the letter yet, and they haven't called me in some time. Guess I'll type the letter tonight. I just wanted to pass along my experience to new notaries so that they can make their own decision about whom to sign with and whom to avoid.
Goodnight.
