NY Power of Attorney for Real Estate

This will be my first notarization and I'd rather ask here than get it wrong out there.

Someone I know asked me to notarize a power of attorney, which gives his father power of attorney to sell a piece of property in New York. The power of attorney was drawn up in New York, if that even matters.

Do I just verify that the acknowledgement matches the working for California? If it does NOT, do I attach the proper acknowledgement to the back and/or cross out the improper acknowledgement on the original document?
