No No Lists

I was reading through some of the old messages and came across a long no no list. On that list was the name of a company, with a comment that it does not pay. Yesterday I received a check in the mail from that company for a signing I did last month.

There are no doubt some companies that you should avoid. But I think it's important that you make your own decision about which company to accept work from, and not always be swayed by what other people say. One person's negative experience doesn't mean that everyone will have the same experience.

Good luck.

It's very possible that they are suckering you in. When they burn too many people by not paying them, and these people start turning down assignments, these companies need to find new people to stiff. It's too bad that so many of us have been burned. One company Eagles-Wing Notary in NY owes me $250.00 from last Nov. I'm pretty lucky, there are others who are owed a lot more. So always check here (at least) if a new company contacts you. I have started doing that. In fact I accepted a signing, didn't have time to check right then. When I did have the chance about 15 minutes later and read all the bad comments, I called back and told them I was not available. It's better not to take something, than be burned after printing, traveling and the time spent there.

I agree with you Leon...

That has happened over and over for me and no, these companies aren't "sucking me in" as I've been doing business with one of them for nearly a year and still pay on time, every time. One thing you're missing here is we never know what part the SA played in the signing that makes it negative. Seldom does someone throw themselves on their sword and gives every detail. I agree with Leon on this one and there's only 3 companies I totally avoid due to the "no no list" and that's only because everyone "can't be wrong".
