Not a dry eye in the house when

my son presented each of his family with an American flag that had flown over Camp Taqqaddum, Iraq where he is stationed and a plaque that had the date on it of the date it was flown. In the background of each was a picture of him at the camp and the crest of his unit--the 28th Infantry Division ( the U>S> Army's oldest division dating back to WWl). Also picture is the flag flying high and proud.

Thank goodness he waited until about the time we were to go home or I would have been an even bigger blubbering mess.

Most all the his sister's were able to come except for the oldest as she works at St. Jude's Research hospital and is in charge of one of the national fund raising arms. Yes, the one that calls for donations. She makes sure it doesn't cost much of the money they raise to raise more.

Quite a visit! and quite a son!

That's a very nice gift! You said "... quite a visit" does this mean he had to go back over to Iraq?

This war is pointless in my book. Another Vietnam! I wish they would just end it.

The war is not pointless, but yes, it is another Viet Nam. If the dang politicians would get out of it and let the military do the job they were sent there to do, it would be over. You can't fight a war from Washington. It is fought and won in the trenches on the front.

Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a tangent.

You're right Paw, not pointless. I just wish the government would take their energy and efforts out of Iraq and focus it on Bin Laden. It pisses me off to know that he is still breathing.

Re: Not a dry eye in the house when - Ilona . . .

I am in awe of your son's service and the sacrifice you and his family make for the rest of us. Thank you.

Mine just came by and is pulling out of the driveway. You have made me appreciate what I have just a little more. I do not think I will ever fully appreciate what I have in light of your post. Keep me posted on his comings and goings. Bless you.
