OT - Child Abductions
I know this is off topic; however, I thought it was something I should share. I received this link in an email this morning. After viewing this, I was in awe of the on-lookers.
This is something that ALL should see…not only the ones that have children.

Re: OT - Child Abductions - its a good point that needs to
be made. It was always at the back of mind while my daughter was growing up. It still worries me but I have a whole lot less control over it now. I can only hope that she know enough to stay out of potentially dangerous situations and with the martial arts training I've provided her as a child I hope and pray she never has to rely on it.

Re: OT - Child Abductions - its a good point that needs to
Years ago, when I lived in Kalamazoo, MI, (yes there really is a Kalamazoo) someone was abduction white haired kids. My daughter(who was 5 at the time) and my son (who was 3) were playing on the swing-set and I told them not to go anywhere because lunch would be ready soon. ( My daughter was in afternoon kindergarten) When I went to call them in, they weren't there. ( talk about trauma)
Kalamzoo had a volunteer c-b patrol group that day and night patrolled the city (especially because the of child abductions) and I thank God everyday for them. Anyway, to make a long story shorter, the kids had wondered over to the Goodwill store and were playing with the games that were for sale. (Even though the whole neighborhood, as well as the police were looking for them, no one even thought to look at the store) Well, they had decided to walk home and a man with the c-b patrol spotted the and asked them if their names were Sissy and Meathead (their nicknames) he told them that they had better get home NOW, because their mom was looking for them.
When they came running into the yard, I started to cry, I hugged them, kissed them then spanked them. (They never did that again.)

Re: OT - Child Abductions - thank you for sharing
I already sent the link to my children and grandchildren, and their friends. Thank you for sharing this information. It is hard to believe that so many people would not respond to a childs plea for help.

Wow! I guess I'm one of the few! If I see something I say something and react. Especially when it comes to little kids!
That was shocking! I can't believe no one helped until those two gentlmen got involved.

Re: I agree....
When it comes to children, it doesn't just take a village, it takes all of us.

OMG, that's hideous...I would hope as a mother that someone would listen if it were my kid. What a sad thing to see.

I had a friend who's child was abducted at Lakeside Mall in Dec. of '85 - recovered unharmed when mall was locked-down by security and he was never caught. I took her to police station for follow-up, the artist's sketch, etc. This is the shocking stuff detective told us - although this WAS 20 years ago ...
Blond-haired and blue-eyed, infants to age 3 are prime targets they are SOLD and most end up in Florida w/in hours of abduction, hair dyed ... This abduction was not in any newspaper - per detective, MOST of them are not made public!! THIS blew my mind, and I'll never forget this guy looking at me and saying "Lady, this goes on ALL the TIME, you really think they WANT it in the newspapers??"
Back then, you could (and people did) go to the airport to watch planes. My two blue-eyed towheads were NOT ever again in that airport. Per detective - that was most dangerous place - they're on a plane before you know they're gone.
The man that abducted my friend's 2 yr old towhead - extremely well-dressed, manicured, expensive clothes, very prof. looking. She and her 3 little girls were waiting outside a store for husband, the man was standing nearby smoking a cigarette (20 yrs ago). He gave her the creeps, so she gathered the girls and said "let's go in and find Daddy." When she got inside the store ... one little girl was missing. Despite her premonitions, instincts, all of it - it was done THAT fast. In a heartbeat, your whole life can change.
Lakeside is a 'double deck' mall, she was on top deck - when she ran out of the store (she 'knew' he'd taken her, instinctively) he had the SCREAMING & KICKING child and was already down on first floor - she leaned over railing and became hysterical (as you can imagine) - personnel inside store alerted security, mall was LOCKED-DOWN almost instantly, nobody in and nobody out. Guards at all 'anchor' store entrances (as they have exits to outside). He simply put her down and took off. Never caught.
If this can be like SueW/TN's posting, and it saves one child/family from unimaginable horror - I'll have lived a completely purposeful life.
