OT: Universal City area - visitor suggestions

I will be in the Universal City area the first week in June. Other than the Universal Studios Tour, what can you suggest to do with three young boys. They are ages 2, 4 and 7.5. I figured the UC tour is very expensive and they won't be able to ride the rides since two out of three are so small. We are going to Knotts Berry Farm the begining of the week. I am staying away from Disneyland. Thanks for any impute.

SignerCa, Here are a Few Activities!

Hi!

There are so many things to do!

Here are a few activities (If you are an AAA member, some even offer
discounts. Also, the AAA has a 'Places to Take Kids in Southern California' paperback book, cost about $16.95. Note: This may not be the exact title, but it is similiar!):

1.) Kodak Theatre: 'Sesame Street Live' 6/1 to 6/4.
(323) 308-6300

2.) Long Beach Aquarium
(562) 590-3100

(Note: Also, contact the Long Beach Convention Center for other activities, such as the
Queen Mary Tour, Children's Theater. . .)

3.) California Science Center (Many "hands on activities" for children!)
(323) 724-3623 or (213) 744-7523

4.) George C. Page Museum (aka LaBrea Tar Pitts)
(323) 934-7243

5.) Los Angeles Zoo
(323) 644-4200

6.) Legoland
(760) 918-5346

Pam, do you know if the La Brea Tar Pits are close by? I know that most young boys just love that place. I haven't lived in the LA area for over 20 years so I can't remember how far places are from each other.

Good Evening!

You know many things have changed in 20 years, namely the traffic!
What used to be a 20 minute ride has turned into a 60 minute turtle race!

Check out either Yahoo's (or Map Quest's) online driving directions.
It will give you the approximate distance in miles (although the travel
time is debatable).

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks all.

We are spending a few days at Knotts and then I wanted to head back up I5 towards home (Central Valley) for a few more days. I am staying away from heading south to San Diego or thereabouts due to traffic and the long ride home. The closer I can be to home on the final day the better.
