OT Warning on IRS.gov website problem
www.IRS.gov has a glitch which will freeze your computer.
I tried several times yesterday to print out form 4868 to extend time on submitting tax forms. (A friend who just lost her husband needs the form - my taxes were done long ago.)
If you go to www.IRS.gov you will see in the upper left corner a box saying something like "Most popular forms."
Do NOT click on it. It froze my computer all 3 times I tried it. Control-alt-delete didn't even work.
Instead, go to "Forms and Publications" and scroll down to 4868. The form and instructions will appear in pdf. Prints just fine.
If you still need to do your taxes, try www.FreeTaxAct.com I don't get anything for recommending it. I find it works just as well for me as Turbo Tax did. FreeTaxAct is free at the federal level. I heard about it last year from Clark Howard.
The only problem with FTA is that you have to hand write our notary occupation code. FTA doesn't have it in their data base.
