Requests for Background Investigations
Here we go again. Starting to get another rash of requests to authorize background checks. I don't have any record whatsoever but don't these idiots realize that if you have a felony conviction (that is the guise of the request), at least in my stae, you can be a notary public, and if you do get a felony conviction you immediately lose your commission.
I have been hit with identity theft three times and I guard my personal information like it were a ton of gold. The waiver they want signed release them from ALL liability. Neither the FCRA nor the Pat. Act requires this "above and beyond" measure of notary publics. We are regulated and licensed by the state, and I have not yet seen a state that lets anyone with a felony criminal record have a commission.
---- Just venting. I refuse to submitt!!!

I'm assuming...
"don't these idiots realize that if you have a felony conviction (that is the guise of the request), at least in my stae, you can be a notary public ..."
you meant that you can't be a notary public. That would be scary to think that a person convicted of a felony could hold a commission as a notary public.

Re: I'm assuming...
It's even scarier to know that someone with a felony conviction can, under certain circumstances, be an attorney admitted to the bar in Florida.

Re: I'm assuming...
Yes, my typo - LOL. That little typo makes a big difference in my post.
Some of these requests state only criminal and DMV checks while others state credit checks as well. Regardless, Who ever dreamed up this process knows nothing about notary requirements and state regulations.
