Rising Cost Of Gas!!!
Hello and Happy Friday to Everyone! I just wanted to know how everyone feels and how everyone is dealing as mobile notaries with the ever rising gas prices. I was a mobile notary in MD and held an office in my home until I moved to PA. Now I'm pretty rural and to get anywhere is at least a 30-50 mile run. So I've stopped the mobile part and work by appointment only. Office work is a great business here in PA rather then the mobile for notaries. I now do a lot of fingerprinting and other notary services (notary publics in PA do tag & title work, not your local DMV) so I have only office hours which is great and very busy work, so how is everyone else is coping?
Good luck and blessings to all...

I ride through Lockeford and Lodi quite often on my motorcycle! Great part of the state you live in! Rhonda

I am also in a somewhat rural area, but I just moved to the "big" city part of it, and I'm actually walking to both of my appointments today! Take that, high gas prices!

I have cut w-a-y back on travel. Most trips are 40 miles or less one way. Fill up the tank every 150 miles to combat sticker shock at the pump. What part of PA are you in, Sherrie?

I had to get off the freeway to get gas last night, 3.59 for regular. If I could have made back to my exit in Bakersfield it's only 3.19 a gallon. Talk about highway robbery.

Cost of driving
I went to several sites that help you figure the cost of driving per mile. I drive a Jetta that gets about 32mpg. The results show anywhere from $1.00 to $1.23. These figures reflect all the variables of car ownership that are hidden as well....like cost of accidents, road repair etc.

Re: Cost of driving
South of Chico, in northern CA, it's 3.10 and rising. I've turned down more signings this week than ever before because they were all 100 mi. or more round trips. AND....they certainly didn't want to pay my fees for those. Ethonol anyone?

Gas actually went down here.
It was at $3.06/gal. Coincidently, when the news started hitting about how the government was going to crack down on price gouging at the pumps and it all went down to $2.82/gal. Go figure!
