What would you do?

I accepted a signing with overnight docs to me. I called the borrower in the evening and set up the signing for the following day at her parents house. I went to meet her, docs in hand, at the agreed upon time. As I waited, the borrower's mother called her on the telephone to let her know that I was waiting. The borrower asked to speak with me and then told me that the title company cancelled the appointment (news to me) and FedEx's the package to her because she could get the signing done for free where she worked. Why couldn't she tell me that when I set the appointment? I don't know. Of course the SS knew nothing about this, and when I called them to let them know the story and that I would be charging them a trip fee, the question was, "Did you go there?" Yes SS, read my lips!
Now what should I do with the docs? I don't want to spend the time shredding them, so if I don't hear from them soon, I will just ship them back to the title company and let them worry about them. Just venting.

The loan docs were sent to you - not her.
If they wanted the borrower to have the docs, they would have been sent to her.
Call the assigning company, briefly tell them what happened & that you will be returning the docs to them.
If the borrower can have the docs notarized for free, she can work it outr with the Title Company to have new docs sent to her.

They sent docs to both of us Stephanie. I did call the SS, they are confused too.
They asked if I went out there, which I did, and said, "Well if you HAVE to bill us a trip charge, send us your invoice. Sigh....."
Yes I have to bill a trip charge, and docs go back to title at their expense.

Just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. I love when no one knows whats going on and you are supposed to be a mind-readed. Yes, I sure would charge a trip fee. Just send their docs back to them.

It's good for your mental health to vent. I think a lot of us have been doing that lately!lol

Have a great week-end John
