questions about Loan signings.
Hello, I know that there are all kinds of messages on this board. My question is what should I charge when I met with the borrower and signed all the docs and the lenders asked me to send 4 extra acknowledgement forms just my signature and stamp. I told them I could not do that . And they told me never mnd because they wanted 4 extra acknowledgement forms.
I still should get paid something. I did everything except the extra items.
please let m e know what you all think

If you completed the signing then you are owed your fee. You did the right thing by not sending any extra acknowledgements, you never want to do that.

You should never send any forms with only your stamp and sig. That sounds like fishy business.

What does your handbook say
about loose acknowledgements. As I'm not in CA, I can't answer that question, but I'm sure it is in the hand book. If you were posting from other state (one similar to mine) that has about a one page list of instructions, I could understand the question, but I thought that CA addressed everything in their handbook . I can't think of anything that's been asked on this board about notarizing in CA, that CA notaries have not stated is listed in the hand book. If this is something that is not addressed there I do appologize, but my money would be on the handbook.

You should get paid your full fee. I have had companies actually send me acknowledgements and ask me to do the same thing that you were asked to do - I have called them and told them not only no, but NO. I also tell them that if they want the acknowledgements, then I will fill them in and make note on them that they are attached to certain documents. But you were absolutely correct in refusing the send an acknowledgment with just yout stamp and seal. These are for identification purposes and if you don't have a name on there that you are "identifying" then how can you set your seal to it? JMPO

Don't EVER send a company a notarized blank ack! It's like giving a blank check. You have no idea what it may end up being attached to. If you are ever told they need an ack for a mistake you made, ensure they provide you a copy of the document in question.

Hey,
Keep an eye out on the company that asked you to do this. Very fishy!!!! Also, a great reason to use your embosser when siging a separate ack.

Did they say they aren't going to pay for you doing the signing? If not, this might be a place to use a variation of the collection letter in post# 110293. In it is section a. Notify the Attorney General of the details and circumstance of the occurrence (to which you would include your explanation of the non-payment due to refusal to send them blank notarial certificates). That ought to get them paying.
