work
is anyone getting any work in the Northern CA area? I am a new notary and have posted my info on many web sites, I have friends that are new notaries too and they have been going door to door to escrow and lending companies, so far we have come up with nothing. Is there anyone who knows where to start getting experience? Willing to go far distance to get one.

The best thing you can do, Jody, is to sign up with at least 200 signing companies and because of the slow down in the market, make it 300-400. TC companies usually want someone that is experienced and can be quite unforgiving if you screw up with something. Most signing services will "hold your hand" through the process so it is best to work with them in the beginning and get some experience. If you are in a saturated area, which most of CA is, you really need to market, market and market some more. You can never do enough. Good Luck

Jody: Click on the 'Find a Notary tab' and enter your zip code. See how many Notaries you are competing with in your neck of the woods. The NNA has fed a LONG line os B.S. to a LONG line of expectant $100,000.00 per year wannabees. To get any business at all you will need to sign up with 300 or more companies. Good luck to you and your friends.

Jody - What's your Profile Look Like?
I see many profiles all over the web (and here) that either blank or say nothing about what's important to a potential client (like accepting edocs). Or, some just say too much about hours the notary is NOT available, how long they will wait for edocs, rules, rules, rules - a huge turnoff in my opinion.
A snappy profile with a professional photo (if offered) on all of the sites you advertise is very important and you cannot just advertise on one site. Times have also changed and I think a webpage, even a one-page webpage is important too.

because it wouldn't be the first one to be picked apart unnecessarily
