American Notary, Southern California
I did a signing for Avi at American Notary in Southern California on 6/6/06. I have invoiced, sent statements, past due statements and spoken to him on the phone several times. He's promised to pay within 2 days. The last time, when guaranteed check would be here by today or he would add another $100 as a guarantee. Mail has come and gone today. No check. Today, I left him message to overnight check by Monday or I would take further -- planning to take matter to BBB. Anyone else having same problem with him? Any other suggestions?

If this is the one in Tarzana, try the cell number below. Also, go to Search and type in American Notary. They seem to have a bad reputation in the biz.
American Notary Network Tarzana, CA Fax # 818-343-5583 Attn: Avi 818-720-5288 Cell 818-343-5634 Office

That's them, Brad. Already have those numbers and even when I speak to them, they sound so sincere ... but no follow through. Guess I'll just try going through BBB. Thanks for the info!

Yolanda, Do a search for "American Notary" or "American Notary Network", you will find the information you are seeking. I did one signing for Avi, and I will not do another. He seems to tell a lot of tales about the check being in the mail. Send him a collection letter demanding payment in x days. Good luck to you.

Yolanda, Re: American Notary, Southern California
Yolanda,
Last month, I had a similiar happening with another signing company. Because I did not get the agreed-upon fee confirmation in writing, the scheduler/manager literally laughed at me for not doing so.
I then contacted both escrow and the mortgage companies. Discovered that both escrow and the mortgage companies were both owned by the same family. That the siging service scheduler/manager was also a distant relative.
And, no one could or would help; "too bad, too sad".
However, after I informed eveyone that complaints would be filed with the Dept. of Corporations, the Dept. of Real Estate (as well as the various media for investigative reports), EVERYONE became very helpful.
I received my check within a few days.
Pam

Thanks, Pam! I will contact Escrow and Lender. I think they should know not to use American Notary again.

Re: Spelling Correction a tip
FWIW... the Google toolbar has a spell check that can be used on any web page. And a good pop-up blocker, and a form fill tool, and the most convenient way I know of using Google... in FireFox it even helps you choose search terms.
All for the low low cost of FREE.
Pretty cool... on Google, click more, go to downloads, you'll find it.
