Bookkeeping

Does anyone else use "Bookkeeper" software? It is an excellent simple program and works great for this business. I would just like to suggest it to anyone starting out or who hasn't found something that works well yet. It creates nice invoices and is so easy to use.

I use Quicken Home & Business

You can invoice an account and track your mileage with their accounting system along with many other features.

If you don't want to purchase this Quicken software there is a free website that is available to create invoices: www.wef.net.

Never send a handwritten invoice to a title/escrow/lender company as this will mark you as a newbie without any experience and clueless!!

Signing companies usually invoice off their Confirmation Letter

Quicken Home & Business - Joan

Do you know of a way to "attach" mileage or expenses to a particular entry? I can't figure out how to do this, if there is a way. I'm using the 2006 version.

Re: I use Quicken Home & Business

I agree that you should not send out a handwritten invoice in most circumstances, however, I have a title company who wants me to invoice them IMMEDIATELY, and send back the invoice with the signing.

When I did not have an invoice to send them because it was back in my office, I went ahead and hand wrote one on the back of the confirmation letter from them. I felt it was better to comply with their billing request than to look perfect and delay dropping the package.

I feel that when running a business bookkeeping is very important. I use Microsoft Money home and business, I had bought the 2003 verison for $10 at Office Max on there sells rack and it works great nice invoices and easy to use. Keeping track of the business I work with and I when I do and a job and when i get paid is great. I advise anyone with a computer to invest in some type of bookkeeping program, theres always sells at Officemax so start small or less expensive, then size up when the time is right.
