Brother HL5240

Any opinions on the Brother HL 5240. Searched for comments, but couldn't find any. Appreciate your input.

I like Brother...

First of all I have to admit, I've never used their high speed products like this one.

But I was IT director for a computer school a couple years ago and we had 4 of their slower B/W Lasers and found them very reliable and cheap to run (chepa consumables). Since then I've had one personally that I gave to a friend when I upgraded to color and I've had a couple of their laser faxes.

I've liked them all... so I'd be inclined to give this unit a go.

I notice that the upgrade to the 5250NT is only $100 and it has a large capacity paper tray and double the memory. You probably couldn't buy those seperately for that. It's also network ready which would be important to me.

You gotta look into toner and drum costs for this particular unit, and the cost of the second paper tray... but I'd keep it on the short list.

You dont need a second tray, you can use the MP tray for letter size paper.

Right now is on sale in Costco for 139.99 after rebate.

I like Brother too

Brother puts out good products. I have had a Brother fax machine for 2 years and just bought a high speed Brother 2040 printer. I love them both. I don't have a need for anything better. My printer was about $200 and my fax $25 (with mail in rebate) Can't beat that!
