Correct Fee

I accepted a signing less than a mile from my house for $100. It was a regular refi but after I accepted it and the docs were emailed to me it was 156 pages and I still had to make a copy for the borrower. Should I have asked in advance the amount of pages or did they get over on me by charging $100 for a 156 page loan?

I should also add this was only my 4th signing so I'm still getting experience.

Thank you

You negotiated the contract and that is what you stick with. Learn from this and notice who the Lender is (hint, hint).

Re: Correct Fee agree and add

If this is your fourth signing...then yeah, the fee was ok....it was "within walking distance" and, yes you did have to print out a chockablock of paper but, now you know.....the REST of the story...and you will price yourself accordingly next time. Chalk it up to paying your dues and getting a feel of this business. Good luck. "Doc"

You'll save yourself a lot of time and grief if you don't worry about stuff like this. Would you have thought you should have charged less if the package was only 50 pages? How much extra do you really think it cost you to print out 156 pages vs 80 pages?

Your edoc fee should be fixed. Sometimes you'll get a huge package, sometimes you'll get a small one. In the big picture it all balances out. You need to think about your costs on an overall scale, not on a signing by signing scale.

Man, I was just thinking the same thing ......... Smile

Good answers on the details, too, but I have to say I also wondered if this new signing aggent might have also taken time to make copies of the DOCs, instead of just doing the print job twice.

156 pages? No worries, you lucked out!!

Re: Correct Fee - yep except...

I don't get the part about making copies over printing twice. I have a Canon copier which is also a printer, in addition to an HP3015. Anytime I can use the Canon, I do and print two. Sometimes I print twice on the HP. I hate fooling with making copies of packages...but, of course, I will. Printing assures I did not vary from the package. But, maybe Alan has a real copier work "hoss" that you can lay the whole package down on at once. With me ol' Canon I can only do about 50 pages at a time.

I'm also new, how long did take before your first signing?
