Help with Dell 1710

Per some recommendations from this site, I purchased the Dell 1710 and the extra drawer from ebay.
I cannot seem to get it running correctly. I loaded the drivers, I have the legal paper in the bottom tray and regular in the top.
I assigned paper to each tray.
If I try to print and designate by PDF file, the printing is not centered on the 8.5 x11 paper and the Legal paper jams
Any suggestions?

If you have not tried this: Go to programs, Dell printers, Dell Laser printer 1710, Dell local settings printer utility and set that up. I have the 1700 and 1700n which I love. On the PDF setting I always check pick paper size by pdf file size or something like that. Good luck, I hope you get it fixed and have the luck that I've had with mine.

I have tried that, the problem is when I go to programs the Dell printer is not there. I loaded the drivers 3 times and rebooted my computer, but the printer is not listed under programs.
So I configured the printer from the control panel instead.
Maybe that is the problem?
I appreciate you both taking time to help me witht this.

Kathi,
It's the Printer. I also have the 1710 and it the worst printer ever.
Thanks goodness I have 2 printers. It Jams every other page..Good Luck

Ok, here ya go

1. Uninstall/delete the printer from you control panel
2. Load/install the cd before pluging in the printer
3. Goto control panel and click on add printer (follow direction of the wizard screen).
4. Click on program to see if there is a Dell program there, if yes goto next step.
5. From Dell (under program) select "printer utility setting" and set up your printer from there.

I'm going crazy with the same problem

I have called Dell, they even offer to take the printer back, but I'm not ready to give up. I will try one more time to install de driver. Wish me luck.

I spent the evening trying to download the drivers. I deleted all printers from my computer ( i had 3) and all the software.
Then I tried to reload the software from the disk. Then I downloaded the drivers from the Dell site. Then when I tried to reinstall the printer, it only showed the dell ps3 and not the pcl......
I will try again tomorrow....
Any additional suggestions?
