How Often Does This Happen?

I was paid the "agreed upon" fee from the ss for a job and a few days later was paid from the title company for the same job - although, it was not as much (about half) - but I'm not complainingSmile. Just wondering how come? Got any insight? or did I just get lucky this time?

You probably need to send the title company check back.

Didnt get lucky, it was an error. Had this happen to me. I

called the TC and they were very grateful for th honesty and in fact, have given me quite a bit of work since.

Oh shoot. So they didn't think I did a super-good job and deserved a little extra. I knew it was too good to be true. Yeah, I'll be calling tomorrowFrown Glad I got everyone here to keep me in line.

Assuming you're joshing and didn't think about keeping it...

the wisest thing (IMHO) would be to ASS-U-ME that it IS an error and return it. If it WAS a bonus, then you are showing them your honesty, integrity...(I believe in the principles of honesty, integrity, it's good to be home in Saint Loooooo....old song think Dr. Demento!) and they will take notice. If it was an error, you are showing the same thing to them. The high road is to return it. If they were local and it was me, I would go into their office (with my case of pills)...and say "WOW, I got a bonus...thanks guys!" (big cheesy grin)....and then feign disappointment when they say it's an error. If they say, "Hey great job", Smile sheepishly and say...BYLH and blush (if you can)..."Doc"

>>>Dr. Demento<<<

Gee Doc, I haven't heard that in many moons. Yeah, I remember him. The Doc. woke me up every morning until KRCA replaced him.

I'm with you. I was double paid by a TC once and when I called and told them, they told me to keep it because it would mess up their books. I said "I owe you one" and they said thanks. You have to be forthright and honest. I don't want to look like one of those AQ LO's, do you?

Just had a similar situation...one of my new clients that I acquired through a broker that I work with sent a check to the closer(husband wife team) instead of to me. Funny thing was the check was made out to SLB SIGNING SERVICES and the husband was still able to deposit it into his account. I had already paid the wife agreed to fee and that check already cleared so I contacted husband to inform him and he rudly said tough luck...he will send me the $50 difference but I would have to collect the remaining monies from his soon to be "ex" wife. I was needless to say flabberasted since this man cashed a check that was made out to me...so I contacted his the local police and they informed me I needed to contact his bank which I proceeded to do and I basically sent them all the documentation to prove that they cashed this check in error so they can reverse the charges...funny thing is...that ex wife that he was trying to throw under the bus was the one who gave me his bank info...LOL

Needless to say, had it been me who received this check, I would have kindly contacted the person who sent it to me and inform them of their error.
