ID Theft & Immigration Fraud - 2 local notaries arrested...

The San Diego Union-Tribune has an article today where a local El Cajon woman has been charged, including two notaries.

Taken from the article is:

"Three other women, including two notaries, have also been arrested and charged with taking part in the scheme, which was yielding tens of thousands of dollars at the same time Ruiz was being asked to pay restitution to the victims of her immigration fraud. "

If you wish to read the article it can be found at:

Always be cautious and diligent in performing your notary service!

This is exactly why I'm so picky about using credible witnesses on loan documents.

How were the notaries involved?

Did they (supposedly) knowingly notarize documents for borrowers who didn't understand the docs? Or did they (supposedly) fail to properly identify the signers? The article doesn't say....

Re: How were the notaries involved? ... link to more info...

"The two notaries also face charges related to the abuse of their official duties." (doesn't give specifics).
