If you owned a signing company?
Would you tell a signer its okay to wear blue jeans and a tee shirt to a signing?
The next time you work for a signing company/title company ask to speak to the owner/or senior manager/etc and ask that person: "is it okay to wear blue jeans to a loan signing and see what the answer is?"
Yeah, this topic has been beat to death but I think some people still don't get it and cannot admit they are wrong. This could be the reason you don't get another signing from a company.
Most companies never call a loan signer back and tell them the reason they will never hire them again.

How about a uniform with a name tag and a hat with a logo of a car and a stack of docs on it? j/k
Most require "business casual." I've seen it come up where a closer was wearing shorts to closings. It got back to the LO from the borrowers, and then to the title co. They complained. I'm not sure if it caused the client to do a blackballing or not.

***How about a uniform with a name tag and a hat with a logo of a car and a stack of docs on it?*** Hey DB, in case you haven't look at the picture on my profile, you will see me in a "uniform" with my name and title right on it. Haven't had any complaints and have had lots of compliments on it. Just an idea(r) if you are looking for a "uniform"

what my take is
It's OK for you to have a handle on here of Delivery Boy, but I sure wouldn't want to give the impression to my borrowers that I am only the "Delivery Person". Doc's uniform seems to be working for him, but everyone associates his uniform with a knowledgeable professional! Anything that would suggest that I am only a delivery person, I would run as far away as possible and as fast as possible. I AM A PROFESSIONAL in this business and that's what I want to convey to all my borrowers and/or loan officers (yes, sometimes unbeknownst to you before hand they are at the closing). This is another very good reason for dressing at the minimum in business casual. We will not be treated as professional unless we start acting, speaking, writing and dressing as a professional!

Re: what my take is
Just joking about the pizza hut uniform and about my handle. I do feel that way sometimes though at travel closings.

Many companies follow up with the borrowor a few days later with a questionaire asking about their treatment during the loan process. Included is a section about the notary's conduct and dress. Some follow up with a phone call.

Well, Joan,I own a signing company and would never tell a signer it is OK to wear blue jeans and a tee shirt. I want my signers to dress professionally.

We had a borrower refuse to sign, not only because the notary showed up 2 hours late, but was dressed as if they just rolled out of bed. Clothes were wrinkled, etc. The title company told me that the resign had to be done by a "professional" or else they were not going to use our services again.
We believe that if you are running a business, you expect the people you call to be professional. A lot of notaries DO NOT TAKE THIS BUSINESS SERIOUSLY, and it is a bad reflection on signing companies. So, do you tell the notary, or do you just not use them again?
We have chosen not to use them again; and it's a shame, because in that neck of the woods, we get quite a bit of business. Other notaries in that area are either real estate agents who are members on this site and never available, notaries that are listed on other sites, but do not have up-to-date equipment or do not work 24/7. or worse yet, folks that are on these sites, have profiles that are so old they don't have any contact telephone numbers and can only be reached by e-mail; and then when they do reply, it's a day later.
