Just a reminder!

Got a call bright and early saying that I "forgot to notarize a document" LOL Ha! Being the little nit-picker that I am, I save all my signings and the docs in a secured file of a certain period of time. Told them that "I find that hard to believe" I recheck at the table before I leave and again before I send the package. Asked what document ? Then I pulled up the file and checked to see if it was in the file. Guess what ! No such document even in the file. So I just send the whole file back to the caller and asked them to fax "said document that they have with no notary stamp on it." Which would quite a feat, seeing that there was no such document in the docs they sent me. Interesting to see what the responce will be.

Just another caution to notaries keep your docs in a secure file for a while ! Just in case there are any problems.

Well that's my chuckle for the day. You all have a great day.

A sideways glance at a similar situation

It was a bad day.

I accepted a signing from an unknown SS. They agreed to my fee and the docs were ready and I printed with no problems. So far so good, however, I'm always a bit uneasy regarding receiving payment from a new SS.

It was downhill from there.

The house was on a cul-da-sac, the kind with those square curbs which are curved. Well, yep I hit the curb and sliced my tire. No flat yet, but surely a blow out ready to happen. BTW, it was my husband's car and the tires were less than three months old.

The signing went smooth enough. Single Bo, only two calls to LO. Get to my car and the tire still had air. Good. Dropped package and went home to find my road hazard warranty paperwork. I called the tire place and the next morning I took the car in as soon as they opened.

I believe it was right after the tire guy told me a curb was not considered a road hazard and the tire had to be replaced, $160.00, that I received THE CALL. It was SS telling me that TC said there was no RTC in the package. I flashed back to printing the docs. There was only one RTC in the pkg and I remembered copying one so (along with the bo copy) there were THREE RTC's. I also remembered having to change the dates and having the bo initial and sign all THREE. So my reply to SS? “I know that I sent the RTC, I'm certain of it. I'm not going back to bo at my expense (and risk killer curb) to get another copy of the RTC. If they (TC) lost it, than they can just have the bo fedex one of his two signed copies. But I'm not getting involved!”

Now, I'm very humbled to say, when SS called Mr Bo, he had...all THREE signing copies of the RTC. And since it was my error that I refused to correct, my pay was decreased – to zero.

I just wanted to share this in case it my help any of you in the future.

Humility always goes down better with

a spoonful of sugar. Thanks for sharing but my question is...............

WHAT DID YOUR HUBBY SAY ABOUT HIS NICE NEW TIRES?

(sorry but from experience I was reading your post while holding my breath)

Re: Humility always goes down better with

Well Sue, actually he was pretty understanding about it. He knew I was beating myself up already so he didn't say much. Although the next time he saw me surfing ebay he did remark, "what'cha lookin' for - curb finders?" (groan)

Blueink...you have been blessed

with a man with a terrific sense of humor AND the ability to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. I laffed myself silly over his "comment" and I can't thank you enough for sharing. What a hoot!

Re: Blueink...you have been blessed

Oooh that hurts, getting a busted tire.

On another note, I always drive the speed limit to closings even if running a tad late, thinking that if I get a speeding ticket it will totally wipe out the cost of the closing. Hate when that happens. I feel for you!
