Listing notary services

Ok I am guilty....I did a search on signing agents this morning and came up with a lot of companies that want mobile signing agents. Most charged to be listed on their sites and some companies wanted you to sign up with them and asked for a SS#. I am a little hesitant....NO a LOT hesitant to put my SS# out there on the net. So what is a good way to get my name out there that I am a signing agent. Is this site going to be good enough or should I list with other sites and pay the fee? I would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer. I am trying to make this my primary job. Thanks!

Re: Don't give out SSN -- call IRS and obtain an EIN

Call the IRS and obtain and EIN to give to agencies for tax purposes.

You can also get an EIN on-line.

Fill out the ap and you can get a number immediately.

Re: Paid listings

I advertise on 3-4 "new" sites each year. I keep track of which ones provide any leads. The ones that I get business from, I keep my listing. The ones that provide no tangible benefit, I drop. There are a few that are more trade subscriptions than advertising and I do keep those.

As with anything else, what works for one may not work for all. Give yourself a budget for advertising & stick to that. I would recommend advertising with sites that have high rankings in various search engines, as there is more chance to be seen there. Of course, that is no guarantee that *your* information will be more visible.

Sorry to be vague, but results are individual.

Isn't MI the abbreviation for Michigan? I thought MS was Mississippi.
