Loan Applications
I have done a few of these, most with no problems except having to bring copies of documents to send to lender. A few times, people weren't told this and it takes forever to gather them. Really not worth the money. But the last one I did, the borrowers didn't have copies so I was told to send originals. So I did. Now the LO calls and says borrowers say they sent originals and he only has copies. Where are the originals?? I said I mailed originals. And If you have copies, obviously someone in your office made those copies. I learned my lesson. No more loan apps and no more original documents sent back with me.

I respectfully disagree.
Loan applications are different from loan signings (and from most notary work for that matter), but I've found them easier in most cases. When I call the (potential) borrower to confirm the appointment date/time/place, I make sure the callee is aware that I do not have any control over the loan itself. Preparing the borrower so that copies of ID, etc., are ready when I arrive has made things easier.
As far as sending original documents, if that's what is required then that's what we do. The borrowers should be alerted so that they can keep copies themselves....
